Al a graphics card really does is take the load of processing all of the graphics from the motherboard so that you can run heavier graphics faster. Your graphics card is what will land you a solid frame rate with graphically intense games. That's why any computer now can run any old school 8 bit game better because technology has come far enough to where the weakest processor around today will be able to run that no problem. It's when you get into 3-D atmospheres with dynamic lighting and shadows, high resolution bitmaps, millions of polygons, etc that you're going to need more strength to process everything that's happening.

I decided to get Mirrors Edge since I played it ages ago but never beat it and it was cheap on Steam. After about 45 minutes I hit a part in the game that is...well, bullshit. You raise from this hole on a crane after dodging snipers and shit in the sewers to get away from them and whats waiting for you topside? 5 guys. With rifles. Oh, and it seems that 60% of the time its a one-hit kill even if they punch me and the other 40% is a two hit kill. I cant run past them and taking them out is impossible because I shit you not they basically grind on each other. I shoulda got a screenshot.

Basically, fuck games that have a stupid difficulty curve or impenetrable wall of bullshit within the first 45 fucking minutes of the game.

Fortunately I found this music thread this week and recognized that name in a glance. It's Exilement (while Scarecrow's alias is "Jawz", I believe).
Perhaps I really should give these SP musicians' works some listen sometime. I've been a loyal MrSuicideSheep and their musical artists enthusiast in a year now and almost no more.
