Quote from EnvoyAh, the days of the PS2. The days where you struggled with save files because 8 MB memory cards were just too expensive. Kids now a days don't know the value of a megabyte.
This is like saying "Back in my day you could buy a nice car for a hundred dollars. Kids these days don't know the value of a dollar."

Has anyone else played Ark yet? Its worth a try if you can run it. It cripples the shit out of my laptop though, so I have to play it on my girlfriends gaming laptop on low settings.

I've played ark but its at like 10 FPS and I cry when I play it because its at the lowest settings, but I watch a lot of gameplay is a really good game..... If you can run it.

I can run it smoothly with everything low. I just play with the textures and resolution up so it doesn't look too much like ass. It's really fun though.

Well no... Because money has no intrinsic value whereas data does. Bytes and bits are constant, and their value remains constant over time. We just have more of it now so how we value it personally has diminished but it's value in use remains unchanged.

except the car is worth the same amount of money, when you adjust for inflation you fat dummy

Yea and I guess you could also say that there's a sort of inflation in the worth of a byte as well though. With larger games and whatnot coming out, 60 gigs of data per game, then a megabyte is hardly worth anything in comparison.

no moffuker because 1MB of information will always be 1MB of information
$1 changes value because it's not a solid value
You're saying that in a year, one rock will become half a rock. It'll be one rock forever.

No, I'd say that that rock would be half as valuable, you get me?

If you guys want to watch a good retro movie that will make you feel like you relate in the weirdest ways.
Do yourself a favor and get ahold of badboys with Sean Penn.
Actually if I made a movie thread would you guys be in to it?

No
Why would a rock lose value over time, implying it had any.
It's a rock. It has no value.
A Megabyte has no value. It is a unit of measurement for data.
What you're saying is very similar to saying that an inch will lose value over a year. Like, wtf? Inches don't have value, they're units of measurement.
A Megabyte is not an actual thing, it's not real. A Megabyte is the name we give an electrical pulse that consumes X amount of processing power. It has no value because it exists independent of one.
HOWEVER, I see your point about megabytes losing value monetarily, but the megabytes themselves do not lose value. How much the megabyte is worth changes, but the megabyte itself doesn't. You're assuming currency and product are the same thing, which they really aren't.

Glad you see what I'm saying here. Envoy was talking about the "Value" of a megabyte, and I consider that the same as what it's worth, in terms of supply and demand. I get the difference between currency and product, just saying that when you have more of something it's worse less than if you have less of it.
I don't feel like perpetuating this argument so I'm not going to comment on the other things you said.
