that's sarcasm isn't it?

if you have to ask, probably not. I really don't know how you could read that sarcastically. pretty much everyone is taught about cell structures in intro to biology classes and the mitochondria is usually described as the powerhouse of the cell, but beyond that I have no idea what its purpose is.

maybe you just suck at math

Maybe cook is just so talented a writer compared to everyone, that he finds English degrees to be silly.

I wouldn't call myself a talented writer under any circumstance, but I'm positive of my English language fluency. I took an AS level (British system look it up) English Language course last year, which is basically the first section of an introductory course to the equivalent of an English Language degree in the UK.
It was really difficult. You look at language and discourse at a really deep level. I ended up barely passing and dropped the subject at the start of this year.

jesus fucking christ, do they teach you how to talk like that in middle school already?

I thought they started introducing edgy diction in college.

That said, I really dislike dudes that don't get STEM degrees. I know it's petty, but I'm just really jealous and annoyed with how easy an english degree is.

For my writing class, I've written the assignments minutes before the deadlines, and as long as you're a good writer, you'll get As, easy as fuck.

Math degrees, on the other hand, actually require work and effort and shit.

In Greece learning english is of great importance. Greek is only spoken by the few and everything that's surrounds the Greek is foreign. The internet, the products and the tourists, which are the main source of income in Greece(one of the main). So most kids learn english at the age of 7, just like how I did, and usually need to get a Proficiency degree (which I got at the age 14). Without it, it's basically difficult to get a job. Most students travel abroad anyway. Also I learned to speak better english in the internet by hearing people talk, read stuff and visiting sites like this, where I actually speak and discuss with other people. In fact, I learned the word decadence from Jutsu (thanks Jutsu).

btw happy birthday! Apparently we share our age and interest(refer Miracle's About Me page).

Which makes me wonder...

How old are ya'll?

The average age of General Section users has skyrocketed since 2012. The longer I think about it the more sad I get :p

Interesting fact. It is thought that the mitochondria was once bacteria (the purple kind!). Back in the day where our grandpapa was a wee cell, he engulfed a bacteria that proved too useful to digest. So instead he enslaved it for all eternity. This idea is supported by the fact that mitochondria have ther own DNA and protein synthesizing structures. So who the fuck needs batteries when you have ancient bacteria in you.

Beyond that, the mitochondria is pretty boring.

It's said that cells ingested bacteria, and the bacteria eventually became mitochondria.
