Can't tell you much about spreading corruption but to get voodoo demons I usually take a couple candles from the dungeon and place them in hell. The increased spawn rate of enemies usually gives me a demon or two.

Here to things you must do before entering hardmode. First, fish as many crates as possible and open them after entering hardmode. This way you'll get many of the hardcore ores without having to mine many of them yourself. Secondly encase the areas you want to protect from the corruption with 5x5 tunnels reinforced with wood or bricks on the sides. Especially the jungle. If corruption gets to the jungle it will start devouring it and there are many things you'll have to do there for the end game. If the world you made is a large one then this will be more tedious.

Also as far as voodoo demons go. If you stay and loot the obsidian towers for long enough one will appear eventually.

Ebonwood would work, correct?

Kinda curious about SP locations now. Maybe in the future I'd like to make a map that shows the location of every active SP user if nobody minds.
