1. Be likeable.
2. Actually have experience.
3. Look decent.
4. Know shit about the place you're applying for.
5. Act like you actually want to work there, and already have the job in the bag.

and don't gossip about all your co workers behind their backs, it isn't very professional.

That's for keeping the job, not getting it. Unless you already know somebody who works there, in which case get them to recommend you.
