Why isn't anyone acknowledging that I exist anymore? Should I be obsessed with EEnE again? Should I be more offensive?

An entire essay about how Stuart Little is better than Mickey Mouse? Sure!

Stuart Little is better than Mickey because Mickey has an annoying high pitched voice and was made by some guy who hated Jews. Mickey is a pedophile, while Stuart is simply some super deformed kid that looks like a mouse. Stuart has a loving family, Mickey has none. Why? Because he's a fucking pedophile creep, that's why. Mickey might've been cool in the 1930's but nowadays, who gives a shit about him? Overall, Mickey is worse than Stuart Little. Period.

In other news, I sexually identify as a piece of shit. Unlike many people, who think their kind/race is underrepresented in society/media, I think mine is overrepresented. Whenever I watch the news, all I see is a ton of shit. Seeing so much shit on the news makes me uncomfortable, I wish the news channels would stop spewing out so much shit. After all, I do identify as a piece of shit and whenever somebody says "The news is shit!" I feel extremely offended.

Hmmm. If you so identify yourself as...uh...that, then I would think, on the contrary, that it would be hard to offend you.

Why do you censor other people when the quote them? Everyone already knows what they said because they just read it.

I just don't like swears... :(

I guess when I read and there are swear words, it almost feels like I'm seeing dirt on a page. I can't change it...because I'm just one person (and one person versus the entire world doesn't work). The least I can do is try to keep my posts clean of dirt...so to speak.

I seriously don't mean to offend anyone, because I know that everybody is raised differently. Some people swear like it's part of their language, because they're so used to it. I suppose because "everyone" else is doing it, that people simply think swearing is okay.

In my opinion, swearing is wrong. So I just won't do it.

as long as you recognize that by censoring what other people say with asterisks which stick out like a sore thumb, you're just drawing more attention to it. asterisks don't change the meaning or the context or anything, we still hear the words in our heads when we read them.

I can understand not wanting to use them in your own personal speech but censoring other people when you quote them is a little odd

LOL yeah....

That's like when they bleep a word on TV. Half the time I'm doing something else and wouldn't notice, and then I hear the bleep drill into my brain and I autocomplete.

I used to agree with you, btw, about swearing. And then I realized that most of the swear words I use didn't originate as swear words at all, so I just decided to use them anyway. I mean, if I say shit, that was a genuine word in use long before it became considered swearing. Same definitely goes for Hell, which is still in use as a non-swear word if used religiously. Pussy? Come on, that's an affectionate term for cats in some circles (obviously not used as such when swearing, but still).

I try to avoid being trash mouthed generally, but writing has also changed things for me. One of my chars is too good for foul language. The other char is the kind of guy who uses them all the time. To be authentic with this char, I had to start using them in writing. So it's kind of my own fault. :P

I know what you mean. :)

Take my entry for the Royale for instance. I know Manny Ken would have loved to swear in my story, but I just let him go as far as "Spitting obscenities...". If he wants to trash talk, he can do it in someone else's story. Not mine.

If I do have dirty-talking characters, I don't actually make them saying the words (e.g. he swore, he added something rather vulgar to the end of his sentence, she finished with a word that had no business being in the English language, she released a rather colorful stream of verbally abused comments, etc.).

On a somewhat unrelated note, it's kind of funny hearing the pseudo-swearing on the show "The Good Place". (e.g. what the fork, that's bullshirt, you're an ash-hole etc.)

I was going to post about how I don't understand why some people find a moral issue with swearing but then I realized I was about to go down a rabbit hole of semantic arguments that will eventually result in a pseudo-philosophical discussion about moral subjectivity and shit.

I'll pass.

About morals in general though, what do you guys think what people consider moral or immoral should revolve around? So far throughout history it's been religion but that shit's outdated af.

Morality, really, is a hard issue.

There are only two choices. Either you subscribe to relativism of some sort, which says that everybody has their own "right and wrong" and that morality is determined by what you think it is.

Conversely, you have to adhere to a universal standard of morality, that says "this is what is right and this is what is wrong." Problem is, the only way universal standards work is if they are set by a "referee/umpire" entity that is outside of humanity, otherwise it just becomes "he said, she said." A "referee/umpire" entity that is outside of humanity, of course, means a god. Typically most standards of right and wrong, such as are used in the legal realm, are based off of the Judeo-Christian God.

Now, why is law based off of the Judeo-Christian God's standard? Well, all laws of the Western nations (and Westernized eastern nations) are based off of the Justinian Code created by Emperor Justinian of the Byzantine Empire. The Justinian Code, in turn, was based off of the Bible because the Emperor was a Christian.

So, there you have it. There are two choices (although relativism lends itself to a whole heap of issues generally speaking), but you will have to pick one or the other....unless you say that everything is right (or be a dismal person and say all things are wrong), which is just idiot-ism. :P

EDIT: I do agree with Exile....the Bible is the best damn standard of morality we've ever had.

Honestly, i think Danny DeVito would be a credible source of objective morality.
