You can't say they are overrated because there is no one to rate them next to, they have their own playing field in the gaming industry. Name me one company even remotely similar to Valve and I'll swallow my words.
But the facts stand that valve is a great company compared to every other gaming company out there. There is no contention or alternate opinion. They are good and unprecedented and it's silly to say they are overrated.

And it's not wrong to say they're underrated? It's my opinion, and it's a realistic thing to say Valve << God when you're a Christian.
The reason people drool over the source engine is that it's open to the public. Modders drool over it, but that doesn't make it particularly great. The problem is Valve recycles the source engine like a mofo. It's almost a crime. I'm also not a fan of "just patch it later" developing.
