So. Many. Sex scenes.
I think there were 5...4 really since one of them was just reused ****ing footage and wasn't even a flashback.

"I've heard that joke before. That's the sign of a bad comedian. Comedians, see, they've got to be original. Otherwise the audience won't laugh, and he'll go home to his wife and kid and eat TV dinners instead of going out to eat, and talk about the weather and how sunny it is outside. Wifey will ask him why they're not at the restaurant they talked about, he'll eat his green beans, wifey will ask again, more insistent this time, and he'll smile real big and SHOOT THEM BOTH IN THE FACE!! Eat your vegetables, dear. Haha... trust me, I know a thing or three about comedians. You're not that funny to me. Not yet."
Is this an awesome quote or what.

I'd make this a thread but I don't see a convenient way to make it a discussion and I hate bland story threads.
100% best weekend of my life just ended.
Ottowa animation festival.
Saw Don Hertzfeldt's screening and there was Q&A after it. I went to the mic after a few super serious business questions were asked. I asked, "if I give you a cup of water, will it turn into wine, and if I drink this wine will I become a better animator?" he answers, "we'll have to save that for the after party."
I couldn't go to this after party to follow through because I'm 3 months from 19, which is the canadian drinking age. I couldn't record myself asking the question because I'd look like a huge doucebag, but it might be on youtube later because I've seen the cameras. I then asked a serious question concerning how he thinks his style might change over the years to not look like an asshole just making a joke.
I then got my DVDs of his, a poster of his tour and my canadian 5 dollar bill signed by him. He drew a few little addative designs on the covers for Everything will be OK and I am so Proud of You. I later got my canadian 5 signed also by Eric Goldberg. If you don't know who he is, look him up.
Eric and Don both showed us all never before seen footage of their latest work. Eric showed clips from Princess and the frog. Looks amazing. I'm probably going to go see it if I have time. Don showed us a new short. It was awesome. I took some film of it but my shitty phone has no quality and could only go up to 25 seconds. >:/ Anyway the short was awesome. I'm not going to go into details in it but it involves pulling stitches out of a guy's mouth for 5 minutes. It's likely on youtube.
I couldn't bring a camera in to the Eric Goldberg Screening or else I'd have my ass handed to me by the theater people.
I watched the Making of Coraline with Henry Sellick, and afterwards ran into him twice. Once in the bathroom. I said, 'Oh, henry sellick. awesome." he said, "yeah what's your name." I just answered after saying 'Just some animator.' after that I went to see $9.99. great movie. Stop motion. I sat down in the theater and Henry Sellick comes and just sits 2 seats from me. The seat between us was unoccupied. I completely spaced on getting him to sign my canadian 5, which after the 2 signatures I assume is now worth much more than 5 dollars. I'll get him later with my luck though. :P
But yeah I couldn't focus on the movie sitting next to the best stop motion animator of this generation, especially being it a very well made and intriguing stop motion. I wonder what he was thinking of it. If he was trying to appreciate it as an intriguing piece of art and/or if he was analyzing it for merits and flaws.
Other than that I drank in the sights of canada's capital and met new people. I learned new drawing and animating techniques and am immensely inspired by the films I saw there.
Go to this festival next year. It's worth the trip and the $100 weekend pass by a ****ton.
I do have pics and will upload them later. I have some webcam things to take and upload of the signed things. I have no pictures of myself with the artists so no real proof that I was with them. Take my word on it if you wish but I don't mind. I know it happened.

Sounds fun, but is it also worth a six hour flight each way (plus check in and baggage collection) and the price of a plane ticket?
