2010 sounds about right to me. I definitely remember being fairly settled in to the pivot section when he posted his first animation, and I didn't start animating until around summer 2009.

Well all this is relatively recent; I just thought that he might be having some sort of long-term fit but it doesn't appear that he's going to change any time soon.
I'm aware that I need to not be around him, I was more just complaining rather than looking for advice.

I swear you just about described this guy I know. I hate people like that. Except the guy I know is Texan and part Asian, so there's a lot of Texan pride.
