Well I can't imagine bumping an old thread would have any affect on forum storage capacity (if such a thing even exists. I'm ignorant as to how websites work.). If anything, creating a new thread makes more clutter.

Perhaps if you ask a moderator via IRC if you can bump a specific thread, then paste the chat after bumping it in the same post to avoid troubles with other mods.

Also, according to the http thingy in threads, there are some 45,000-50,000 threads (including ones lost in the the hack, I believe) so bumping them wouldn't really have much effect on capacities.

That it's too much trouble for just bumping a thread. Well I suggest to the mods to think again about this rule, like: if we want to make a post about something, and there's already a thread for that. May we bump the old one, or make a new one?

Its better than racking up infractions.
I think it would get too complicated, with mods trying to justify good bump, bad bump.

Has anyone else seen this StevenMildred guy? Whenever I look at the profiles of long gone members, his name is always in the last ten people to visit this page box.

You will not bump a topic more than 7 days old, unless the topic doesn't need to be remade many times (chat thread, pictures thread, etc.), or you are contributing intellectually

What is so difficult to understand about this? If you are bumping a thread, make sure you have a good reason to do so. For example, if you find a fairly old topic that you wish to contribute to, like one based on line animation techniques and you want to add your own in, then feel free to bump it. However, if you come across an older topic and you just want to make a joke or talk about something that is no longer relevant (like old competition threads), then you shouldn't be posting. The rule is just there to stop retards from bumping months old threads without actually contributing anything. If you don't want to bump a thread but want to talk about the topic, then there's no harm in making a new one.

The point is, people get butthurt even if it's a relevant comment.

Anyway Sacred I am not trying to be an ass. I just don't think bumping an old thread is something that should be moderated. It harms no one. No one cares if a couple old threads show up from time to time. And if anyone does, they have problems. What's the difference between creating a new topic that's been covered before, or bumping an old thread and adding to a pre-established topic? The only reason bumping a thread should be bad is if the post has absolutely no relevance and doesn't contribute in any way.

I was mildly joking with that post, broski. Honestly I see it really leniently. Even if the thread is like more than 6 months old, if you post in it with an on-topic and contributive post, then by all means continue to discuss. I'm just saying that if the thread is older than a year, that means you scoured the forums just looking for the topic to talk about. And any conversation in that thread is no longer relevant. So making a new one just makes sense because now the thread's conversation is fresh. For example, take a thread about the president or the economy from like a year ago in comparison to what a thread about the president or the economy is now. Neither of the two are consistent with what actions or events surround them. So a thread about either one from a year ago will be full of no longer relevant information (unless for citation purposes). Posting at that point is meaningless and is best left with a new thread.

Same with a tutorial thread. I'm sure after a year considering all the new programs and shortcuts everyone figures out, a tutorial on how to do something from a year ago isn't as fresh and/or relevant with what we have now.

Well I've always wanted to know men' opinion about this

I always see commercials in the tv abot fitness, and see girls like "OMG I IZ 2 PHAT", and then buying some stupid thing to be more thin.

I personally don't care about being thin as hell, I love my body how it is right now, but what do you MEN think about it? I mean I've never seen a man doing one of those commercials worried about his weight. Is it because you don't care? Or....?

Men don't worry about getting thin. When they have fat, they think about converting it into muscle. Cause that's hot.

I never liked those impossibly proportioned bitches. There's more being put into effect than Weight Watchers.
