The default infractions range from 1 - 10 points. The only 10 point infraction is "illegal content" which is meant for people directly sharing warez or something stupid like child porn or something. The infractions expire after 14 days by default, so if you get 3 points, and then wait 14 days you'll go back to 0. We still keep track of what you do, so if you get a shit ton of total infractions and just narrowly avoid the ban milestones, we may still punish you (this is why 2-D was banned, he had 26 infractions and would just narrowly miss the ban milestones).

I recall 2D getting unbanned after his big ban not too long ago. He then proceeded to make the same kind of one-liners over at the Off-Topic place. And then he was banned again. Only the mods would really know why though. Point is, there was a window in which he wasn't banned after his ultimate one and I'm not sure if that was an error of some kind.
