Who remembers this battery hog? I've still got mine. My NES and SNES were ruined in a house fire, but I've still got the old Game Gear, and my Atari 2600.

Why did the Game Gear not kill the Game Boy when it was roughly equal to the Game Boy Color in specifications and unlike the GBC had a backlight, LONG before the Game Boy Color even existed (seven years)? Two major reasons: size and batteries. One, you can't exactly call it "portable" when it's the size of a Genesis. Two, it took six AA batteries to power the thing, and I know from experience that the battery life was less than the time it took to beat Sonic Chaos in a single sitting. So you would be going through six batteries like... every hour.
