Anyone remember that dude who got in the street naked and ate some random man's head because of some drugs? Anyways I don't think talking about this is for me.

the fuck? see, that's the kinda stuff i was talking about. if they get too much drugs, then they act crazy!
If they reduce the amount of drugs they use, it's okay.

Damn, I'm trying to stay away from this place, but I checked back when I was bored for a second, and read the chat thread. My god you fools ganging up on gamerat are sad. Here's some words by the great writer Stephen King, from his book On Writing: A memoir of the Craft. Now this is just an alternate viewpoint by someone who's actually experienced hard core addiction in his life including weed, alcohol, tobacco, cocaine, and plenty more. I'm not saying this is fact, but it's another viewpoint that should be considered. I especially agree with the part that people think creative minds require some kind of substance abuse to create things. Gunnii, I'm looking at you. Try reading this with an open mind, and instead of spouting about gamerat's anti drug indoctrination, think about your pro drug indoctrination.

"The idea that creative endeavor and mind-altering substances are entwined is one of the great pop-intellectual myths of our time. The four twentieth-century writers whose work is most responsible for it are probably Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Sherwood Anderson, and the poet Dylan Thomas. They are the writers who largely formed our vision of an existential English-speaking wasteland where people have been cut off from one another and live in an atmosphere of emotional strangulation and despair. These concepts are very familiar to most alcoholics; the common reaction to them is amusement. Substance abusing writers are just substance abusers—common garden-variety drunks and druggies, in other words. Any claims that the drugs and alcohol are necessary to dull a finer sensibility are just the usual self-serving bullshit. I’ve heard alcoholic snowplow drivers make the same claim, that they drink to still the demons. It doesn’t matter if you’re James Jones, John Cheever, or a Stewbum snoozing in Penn Station; for an addict, the right to the drink or drug of choice must be preserved at all costs. Hemingway and Fitzgerald didn’t drink because they were creative, alienated, or morally weak. They drank because it’s what alkies are wired up to do. Creative people probably do run a greater risk of alcoholism and addiction than those in some other jobs, but so what? We all look pretty much the same when we’re puking in the gutter."

-Stephen King

First off, I don't condone use of 'hard drugs' like the one Scarecrow listed in his post. They are all too addictive and anyone who uses them regularly most likely has a problem. But drugs like weed are no worse then cigarettes. Their probably even better.

I'm not pro drugs, I just don't give a shit if people feel inclined to use them. Some people have trouble doing them, obviously, but others handle them perfectly well. Two friends of mine smoke weed once every weekend, they have never done it in the middle of the week and they have been using for 2 or 3 years now, they have it well under control and keep their shit together.
Just a quick Google search can show you just how many creative thinkers have used drug without it actually showing.
Did you know Sigmund Freud, better known as the father of psychoanalysis, did cocaine?
Or that Richard Feynman tried LSD, marijuana and ketamine?
And those are just scientists, there is an even bigger number of artists out there.

I'm not pro drugs, I'm not recommending them to people or convincing them to use drugs, I already stated that I will never do drugs myself. People have the right to do drugs as long as they can actually deal with it and not cause a harm to others, drug lords make this much harder then it has to be, and if you deny it you need to read up on some statistics regarding the war on drugs.
Did you know that about 7000 people people die of overdose every year, most of them die because of impurities in the substance they are taking, those impurities would not be a problem if the drugs were regulated and controlled by the government. Since 2006 over 70.000+ people have died in Mexico alone, not from drug abuse, but from the war on drugs. Many of those people didn't even do drugs, they just happened to be at the wrong place in the wrong time. Did you know the war on drugs costs the U.S. more then $51,000,000,000 annually. And I don't think you knew that it's estimated that if marijuana was taxed and regulated it could generate profits of up to $1,400,000,000 per year.

And do you know what the best part about this war is?
It's not doing shit. In fact, studies have shown that drug usage has gone up substantially since it began. The war on drugs has done achieved nothing with its propaganda, overflowing prisons and with the people that it has killed.

Edit:
The man who practically turned into a zombie probably had an underlying mental illness. He was also believed to have used a cocktail of bathsalts and cocaine, it's not recommended. Either way, that reaction is an exception, not the rule.

I mean, drugs are okay, but you have to keep them under control and not abuse them.
If you smoke too much weed, then yeah it's a problem.

Also, how did the people in Mexico die from the War on Drugs? Did they killed or something?
And the war on drugs just seems like it costs way too much money economic wise.

Finally the chat thread actually has a meaningful conversation, and you decide not to read it?
Stop bitching about this thread being about nothing if you don't want to take part in the discussion when one arrives.

Yes, people go away, they grow up. Some people stick around like Scarecrow and Exilement, but usually people leave when they get a little older than 14 or 15.

Many of these people were collateral damage in gang fights and even police raids. Others were killed for reasons related to their drug use, such as being in debt to a drug lord. I don't have exact statistics for this, so I'm pretty much guessing.

Why don't they arrest them instead of killing them?
Also, the police shouldn't be on raids, because you don't stop drugs by simply ambushing them. That doesn't solve anything. In fact, it makes things worse.

there's a vast difference between "because of drugs" and "while on drugs". the media has a nasty habit of twisting any negative situation involving them to appear to be the former.

yeah, an anecdote about something that was blown out of proportion and used to demonize drugs is really good evidence

psychedelics are not addictive and it is impossible to become addicted to. you can't even become psychologically dependent on them. any psychedelic will cockslap you and tell you to learn your place if you even think about becoming addicted to it

i am not offended at all (and even less surprised). my arguments are mostly experience based. based on my own experiences, that is. and the experiences of thousands of other psychonauts. and scores of high-profile authors. and a whole lot of well-researched, unbiased history.

but of course, none of that means anything, because teachers, television, and newspapers are the only sources of accurate information, right???

Why, did you know any psychedelics?

Can't tell if sarcasm.
But I don't understand why people would do that. Is it them or the drugs that are doing that to people?

That reminds me. How are you going with that batch of dream herbs you had a while back? I'm particularly interested in your experience with ayahuasca, I heard you have a one on one dnm with a healing spirit, which sounds neat.

I was actually agreeing with Scarecrow, the hard drugs I was talking about were the same as he listed himself, cocaine, heroin, etc.

I thought psychedelics were psychologically addictive. For example weed can cause depression if you smoke a lot of it since it stimulates the production of dopamine and other neurotransmitters, if you stop using the substance you will feel depressed because the body is unable to generate enough of them. While you don't really become addicted to the herb you become addicted to stimulants to generate those neurotransmitters for you. Often times this leads people to use more of the substance.

But yeah, I was pretty much agreeing with Scarecrow. I'm sorry if it didn't come across in my posts lol.

Yes that was sarcasm. The man was probably already crazy before he took anything. Psychedelics tend to amplify your state of mind, such that it becomes clear to you. If you're completely unstable beforehand, it's a pretty bad idea to take them. Anyone with a grain of sense should be able to figure that out.

My point is that the media is 100% guaranteed to gloss over the details like this, because they don't work with the message they are doing their best to use the story to convey. The media is only ever going to tell you the details that fit the story that they want to to hear.

something along those lines. i haven't gotten to actually try the ayahuasca brew yet. ayahuasca usually consists of two ingredients: the Caapi vine on its own is where the spirit of the experience is, which I already have, but DMT containing plants are added as "light"; to illuminate the experience, to give it vision. I don't have enough of any DMT containing plants at the moment, so I'm going to have to grow some. If I can get my hands on some pure DMT (which I am trying to do but is actually quite difficult) I will use this in the meantime.

the dream herbs: I still haven't gotten anything from it. having said that, I never dream to start with, so I'm not particularly surprised. I think I'll take one bag of the calea and make a tincture out of it, as I've heard this is often more effective.

Yeah, that's true for marijuana but does not apply to psychedelics. The experience has such a huge and long-lasting impact that you'd have to already be crazy to be able to take them any more frequently than once or twice a month.

That's not to say I haven't tried. When I started out with psychedelics (this was before I developed the understanding I have now) we tried to use mushrooms as a recreational drug every few days for a while. It was all fun and games (giggling at patterns moving) at fairly low doses for a while, but the dosage kept increasing as we got more bold. Fascinated and determined to delve deeper into the experience (albeit for kicks at the time), I eventually discovered the perfect technique to maximize potentiation and effect... long story short, the mushrooms kicked my ass (with the experience of dying) and told me not to come back until I have some respect.

Obviously, almost all of you disagree with me, so apparently I'm wrong. Go figure. -_-

you're not exactly agreeing to disagree either, so stop acting like everyone else is being unreasonable. you're making objective statements, not subjective opinions, and those of us who know better are explaining why you're wrong. you just don't want to hear it. go figure. -_________-

not that I'm about to get into this. I just think it's funny how the people who have actually done drugs around here can put together a more logical and intelligent argument than you can.
