I didn't lose that much. About 10 or 20 posts were lost on mine.
I'm trying to reach for 1,000. >: D

SoM seriously need more attention to the mods.
Can't the mods manage the Spam-O-Matic a bit better?

It sucks how Hewitt's threads got obliterated.
EDIT: Gamerat, Hewitt is not an Admin, he's a Global moderator.
He's not? Oh...

Can I be mod?

What I Hidro did was not on purpose, no-one other then Hewitt has a reason to be personally mad at him. He is a pretty cool guy and he regrets this very much.
I hope Hewitt will come back soon, this community needs him very much.

shit happens, guys. I'm gonna try to contact spam-o-matic's developers and see if we have any options available.
let's try not to lose our shit until we know for sure there's nothing we can do.

This may be a stupid idea, and this may not contribute anything to the topic, and I'm sorry for that, but isn't there a way to create an automatic system to ban spam-bots, based on the amount of reports a certain post have? when a post gets a certain amount of reports, that account would be automatically be deleted. This may prevent spam-bots and also troublemakers, and it would require the report of a larger group of users, so that way it would also prevent "accidentals" bans. although this would only work if every user is willing to report every spambots' post, and also if every new user is instructed to how to detect spambots and tell them to report them at the moment they see one.
Again, this may not contribute anything to the topic because I don't know it's possible to create such a system I'm just speaking from my ignorance about coding and sh*t so sorry if I bother you :C

translation: it won't work.
spam-o-matic works great as it is, look at these statistics:
243376 Spammers Denied Registration
2256 Spammers Permanently Banned
12803 Spammy Posts Automatically Moderated
I have absolutely no idea how hidro managed to fuck this up, but it was a mistake. like I said, shit happens. I feel terrible for hewitt and this is a really unfortunate situation, but we're not going to completely overhaul the forum based on one isolated incident.

That also has the potential to be abused by a handful of people with malicious intent.
May 23, 2013 2:06 PM #982482
it's more likely to just cause more accidents than it'd prevent. if this is the first major mistake made since spam-o-matic was installed, then there's not much to worry about.

Point taken. As we all were, then.
Back to the bamboo argument...

How long has it been in? I don't remember any mention of it since the last time I was hangin' around here.
