When the parts are all saved as a movie clip? no it will not. if he edits the clip and adds a bit of AS to the last frame he can easily transition the entire thing with having less than 200 frames on the actual timeline. For the most part the work for him will be tedious. After the first frame transition is finished, he will just have to copy and paste the frames. He can even make it easier by duplicating a movie clip with everyones name on it that way he only has to animate any name change once. It's really not that hard if you know what you're doing <3 It's just going to take a few hours at the most.

it doesn't quite work that way. i use v-cam to transition each part so that it actually looks like they're running through a door. i don't just place a part down, then when it's done place another part down. that would completely defeat the purpose of having the doors anyway, and that's literally the only point of the collab, because if there weren't transitions from part to part the collab would be "animate anything you want." because everyone animates differently and each stick figure enters and exits at different speeds, each transition has to be approached in a different way, and i take care to make each transition look legitimate. i don't just take a random part and put it next to another random part, i make sure it flows decently and that someone with a really exaggerated style isn't put next to someone with a very technical style, because then there would be no flow. if a stick figure walks through the door or falls through it or runs through it, the next part has to enter with a walk or a fall or a run, respectively. ALSO i'm insanely critical about music syncing with the action, so i have to make sure that the mood of the room matches the mood of the music. i know this all seems like pointless, extra work, and there are much easier ways of approaching the project which would make it a lot easer on me, but trust me, if i did it in the way you described, and i didn't take the time to plan out every part sequentially and i only took maybe a half hour to do this, you guys would have been bored by Doors 2 and there wouldn't have even been a third or fourth one lol.

the other thing you have to understand is that i don't have the world's greatest computer, and after inserting about 30+ entries, i'm about halfway through a song and my computer is very unhappy, and each click or ctrl + Z takes around 30 seconds to register, which again, doesn't seem like that much, but let's see how long you can handle this without actually wanting to rip out your own spine and beat yourself to death with it.

also, no one was forced to give me any money and the donation wasn't for nothing. $5 gets you a thank you in the credits, $10 gets you an early screening of the collab, $30 gets you a t-shirt, etc. so i really don't feel like i was ripping people off lol. i work full time as an artist, this was the only way i could have possibly done another addition to this series, and everyone seemed to want it and be okay with the donating process. i only got around 3 people who didn't understand and who were angry, which is fine. if you don't like it, don't donate. (and no one has to donate anything more because we reached the goal).

and i know you didn't have any negative thoughts towards me or the project when you posted, you were just voicing some concerns, but i REALLY don't want people thinking i just sit down and copy/paste some shit and i'm done. there are two reasons these collaborations are so popular and successful. 1. everyone puts a lot of effort and creativity into their parts, and everyone works really hard to make it a success. 2. i take their hard work and try to put as much effort as i can into shaping the collaboration to be memorable, fluid, energetic, exciting, and fun. Please do not think i take compiling all of this lightly. i spend a lot of time making sure everyone gets what they want. i hope this helps to clear some things up!

you don't have to delete the layers but you can if you want to! as long as the graphic is just as long as your original animation. (like, the layer is extended to be as long as your animation was). but you may leave the old layers there if you like, it doesn't matter!

TG, i did get your message, no worries.

I'll address the whole money thing first. When I first found out about Doors 4 it was via IRC from some random guy and when he was talking about it he made it sound as if you basically were booked like no other and in order for you to free up what I'll estimate 6 hours of total work for this you would require a certain amount of money donated from the community. There was no talk about t-shirts or any of that, nor do I remember reading about that on the donations web page so I apologize for that.

I took all of the whole syncing entries and music into account when I said I would give you a few hours of actual work on this. This surely won't take 30 minutes to compile, but it also won't take a week worth of sitting down and devoting hours upon hours a day towards it. You should invest in a better piece of hardware, Pluto.

i really am busy out of my ass lol i definitely am. basically i'm either working on a freelance piece to make barely enough for rent/food or taking care of someone in my family. again, i really will spend as much time on this as i possibly can, and again, no one was forced to give me anything and i'm giving back exactly what was promised. i honestly don't see a single problem with a fundraiser, especially if it helps out and especially if the community supports the project so much. if you didn't support it, you didn't have to donate. pretty simple stuff.

but again, i also completely understand why it could be considered not necessary or weird and i get your concerns. i would love to have better hardware if i could afford it. i mean it's not TERRIBLE but when you start dealing with this many symbols/sounds/objects/frames it all gets a little heavy. anyway man, i hope you don't think ill of me. it was never my intention to scam anyone out of their money or anything like that, and i'll do my best to make it completely worth everyone's time and money.

thank you to everyone who donated and thank you to everyone who has already finished a part! we have about 35 parts finished already and it's only been two days. at this rate it'll be twice as big as doors 3. i can't wait to see what you all create in the next few weeks!

EDIT: 40 parts actually, good work guys!
