"Then we need to find some of those," Desmond nodded to Boris. "I suspect its deeper into the city. Ahriman, Otael? Do you guys know where the butcheries were?"
Jan 29, 2015 1:08 PM #1301112
Ahriman nods "Aye. The city itself hasn't changed much. Last I remember, the butcher's shop was this way." He walks towards the end of the market, beckoning the others to follow. "It would be just like the nobility to test us in unconventional methods. Many play an odd sort of game against one another. I am willing to believe the Count when he says he is curious. Of course they are toying with us, but that's how many nobles are, living or not."

They all solved the riddle at a rather quick pace, and Ahriman was the first to figure out that they should go to the butchery. He lead the way, walking through the wide open door as they were subjected to the strong smell of fresh meat. However, the place was abandoned, as if they had known that the group was coming. As they walked in, the warmth of the room and the smells was very inviting.
The room is dimly lit from candles on a few tables and some on the walls. There is a green leather book sitting on the table next to a key and a few coins. From what they could see, there were three doors downstairs, two of them boarded completely shut and the other with the door completely nonexistent. There was another staircase that lead to a small hallway upstairs. One door was obviously boarded, while the other seemed unlocked.

Boris, investigating the surprisingly welcoming butchery, comes across the green book and proceeds to pick it up along with the key sitting parallel to it.
"Let's see what this vampire wants us to do next," Boris stated as he opens the leather tome.

Septimius didn't feel like being part of another childish riddle so he grabbed one of the candle stands off of the table and decided to see what the rooms were hiding. He began steadily ascending the staircase, the candle in front to light his path and help him step around and over anything out of the ordinary. He walked with one hand on the bannister and tilted the candle forward to avoid the candle wax from running down into his fingers. Rather it dripped off and he listened to the hollow splat of melted candle wax as it fell on the wooden floors. Once he reached the second floor, he patted off any dust on his right hand. He carefully approached the closed door and after simply turning the knob and nudging the door forward, he drew back and unsheathed his staff, opening the door the rest of the way with his buckler as he went to investigate the room.

"Well.. not like I can read that note anyways...". Jessica sighed deeply and noticed that Septimius was going upstairs, "I'll go check out the second floor with Septimius, be careful here", she said as she followed her friend from behind carefully.

Marcus walked into the small building with his friends. He was rather upset that they had to solve puzzles and riddles. He was never any good with those sorts of things. He thought about just trying to look around a bit to make himself seem as if he was pondering some ideas, but certainly everyone else would be able to see through his charade.
While everyone else is busy reading books or going upstairs, Marcus would just walk right inside of the open room down stairs. Maybe there he could hide his shame about sucking with puzzles. He called out to his friends as he entered the room, "What exactly are we looking for?"

"We are looking for a place for this key," Desmond held up the copper item for Marcus to see. "We can see a few doors. I'll be trying each of them."
The stitcher gave a bit of thought on the barricaded doors. "Jessica? Could you sense things beyond doors? I'd rather you go check these two barricaded ones before we actually enter them."
Ghan, you go through the doorless hole. The stitcher whispered the thought to his companion who nodded. Ghan immediately stepped towards the non-existent door.

As Boris looked into the leather tome, he found nothing but a log of sales. It was rather unimportant. As Septimius and Jessica both opened the door upstairs and walked inside, they found that it was a storage room. It was completely covered in dust, yet the room contained book shelves, a few crates of ale, and in the middle was a table that was placed atop of a fancy rug. Next to the rug was a large crack in the wood.
Marcus and Ghan both checked the downstairs room. Ghan telepathically told Desmond that it was okay to come in. It is simply a bedroom, with a single bed, a dresser, and a nightstand with a piece of paper and coins stacked on top of it.

Desmond climbed downstairs towards the bedroom and began to look around. Ghan swept the dressers and nightstand for clues, opening them for anything.
The stitcher however stopped to look at the barricaded doors and knocked on them. They seemed to odd. Why are these two barricaded and so close to the bedroom?
"Should we just pry it open or wait for Jessica to see through it?" He asked Marcus.

"In a second Desmond!, I'll be back in shortly" she said as she continued to enter the room
"Storage room?" she said when they entered the place, their steps were loud enough for Jessica to have an idea of the room around her, she noticed a table in the center of the room, and as she walked to it she could also spot a sort of carpet and somsthing weird about the floor right next to it. "A crack?... maybe?..." she thought as she got to the table, "There's something here Septimius, I'm gonna check it out" Jessica said as she removed the table and rug in order to check what was the crack, IF it had something that it was worth their attention.

Liss wasn't very good with riddles, and needed to help! Gripping Marcus' jacket she stayed close. "S-s we're trying to find a door? W-what if it belongs to a chest? O-or a diary?" Liss looked up at her angel and snickered. "You're so cute!" She loved how he was inspecting things way too closely as she looked around. "Could it be to a locker maybe?" Liss was helping by dishing out some ideas as she tried to hide her fearful emotions. "What time was it when we started..."
Jan 30, 2015 1:13 AM #1301339
Desmond heard Jessica's reply. "Okay," he said. "We'll wait."
The stitcher looked to Lissette who was dishing out what she could to help.
"It could be anything with a lock..." Desmond replied with a shrug. Or was the key the riddle itself and had nothing to do with a butchery shop or meat?
Desmond examined the key further as he tried to find anything inconspicuous with it. Might be a trick of the eye that they missed any details earlier.

Septimius swept some dust off the kegs and looked at the corks embedded in. He placed his candle on the keg and gripped the sponge cork. He wiggled it around, taking it out with a whistling pop. He sniffed the cork and smiled, it was ale, and some good ale at it. He dipped his finger and licked the droplets that clung on. He shivered as the fiery liquid ran through his throat. Good ale indeed, he licked his lips. He wished he could take some with him but he couldn't take a keg with him and he didn't have a flagon to store some. He'd have to talk to Aldric before they left this house to fill his flask with some. He shoved the cork back in and turned to help Jessica with moving the table and rug to give her an easier time to see what the crack was. He moved the candle from the keg to the top of the table, the light for his convenience.

Marcus smiled at Lissette. She. Was. So. CUTE.
Marcus held Liss' hand as he saw the note on the nightstand. He didn't think there could possibly be anything relevant with that. It was probably just someone's grocery list or something. Marcus whispered to Lissette, "I think there may be something under the bed" as he pointed to the bottom of the bed. He dropped down to his hands and knees and proceeded to look under the bed.
