So I recently got Macromedia Flash 8 on my new PC.

I downloaded the full program and entered in my serial key, so I haven't gone wrong so far. I was then presented with the starting screen and to my surprise I DID NOT see ActionScript 2.0?

There's an ActionScript file, but that is just a text document as far as I can see. The only document that I can use to animate is the Flash documents (which is pretty much exactly the same, but read below).

1. I'm worried if this will matter if I try to do a collaboration with other artists?
2. Is there a way that I can install ActionScript 2.0 into my Flash program?
3. Will I be able to open ActionScript files?

I'm pretty sure the actionscript in Flash 8 is AS 2, that's what my screen looks like and it's the only flash I've ever used.

When I open the ActionScript document it looks like this:

There could be a way to fiddle with it, but I'm pretty blind with this right now. I also just found out that instead of having "Untitled-1" it has "Script-1", so that could explain a bit, right?

if you're asking why you don't see options for "new actionscript 2.0 document" and "new actionscript 3.0 document" it's because flash 8 doesn't have AS3 and therefore an option isn't necessary. every new document you start will be AS2 by default. just choose new flash document and use the actions panel at the bottom of the screen

new actionscript document is for building scripts for coding projects, that's not what you're after.

Yeah, I just figured that out. Appreciate the help, guys.

Edit: Close the thread, worked it out.
