Christmas is about maintaining equilibrium. Relationships are maintained based on the idea that gifts are given and are received in return of approximate monetary/perceived value. Disrupting this balance is the start of war, but also salvation from this torturous cycle.

Really though. It's just an excuse for me to test whether I can deduce what the other person wants by recalling signs they leave during conversation throughout the year or crossing into enemy territory and asking vague questions.

EDIT: For children I believe it was about the excitement. Waiting until Christmas day so you can get your presents was a rush. And why shouldn't it be? You get shit you want for free and you don't have to think about buying shit for other people. As an adult you have money, you know full well that you can buy anything you want. Therefore the excitement kind of diminishes. At this point in time, they may make the switch from it being about presents to less superficial ideas.

About the birth of Christ. It shouldn't be anymore more nor anything less.
As far as my christmas goes, that's just the time of the year when I get to throw a shit ton of cash for games (God damn you Lord Gaben) and merchandise, for myself only of course.

I won't refuse a present or two.

I agree with this post and it is also my opinion lol

Christmas was originally celebrating the birth of Christ. It's succumbed to a consumerism fest, although I wouldn't really call it that entirely. It has a social aspect to it, this sort of social gathering day, a day off from work, worries, troubles. Like a once a year cold weekend were you meet up with all the people you haven't seen in a while and care about.

I'm not a christian person and I would most likely not be celebrating Christmas if it wasn't for my family. I see it as a time to be happy and to spend time with others rather than getting/buying gifts.

Yeah, no. That's only roughly half true. They took Saturnalia from the Romans and converted it to be something more inspirational, though Jesus was likely born a few months before if he ever even existed.

Christmas is about not being expected to do any work for a couple of weeks. And then accidentally getting more work done than any other two weeks of the year because I don't want to talk to my sisters.

No. You can't have rivalry with someone you're objectively better than. They're just really annoying.

I chose the third option.
