TL;DR: Keep gold low, spam miners, swords, archers. If CA, Spear.

The BRIEF but COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE:

Alright, so since there's tons of new players (newbies) and maybe some of those who are just frustrated at being stuck on 1200, here's what you do that exemplifies concepts - forget about strategies and so forth.

1. Make Archer/Miner on every map to start.
2. Make miners, swords and archers.
3. Keep your gold low (otherwise it's just being useless in the bank!)

This should get you through most of the earlier ranks. As long as you make consistent miners, swords and archers (which keeps your gold low), you'll be fine. If required, put 1 on mana and make a spearton of he goes CA. Below is what you do when the players get a little better and you can't end it so fast.

4. @9 Miners, put 1 on mana.
5. Keep making miners and archers.
6. Save for a spear when you get 50 mana, then buy one.
7. Keep making miners until you have 14.
8. Make spears, archers and hustle.
9. Win.

SO basically, focus on making as many "stuff" as you can. At lower ranks, as long as you have more "stuff" you can win due to sheer size of army. TL;DR Method at the top.

When you feel confident you can make units efficiently, watch this video on G-kiting, essentially the most fundamental micro move in the game.

Pretty good guide for newer players, just explaining the fundamentals is good. It's not that hard, just basic understanding and knowledge of the game.

Teaching strategies and whatever is overcomplicated and makes it hard. Best way is to say focus on X thing and just do it.

Someone should also make a basic micro/macro thread which will include other nifty essentials, such as having sword behind archer in sword arch, or miner split.

I love the idea I hope people will pay attention other wise you may be wasting your time my friend as most newbies don't want to learn from my experience. the players that want to learn are those on 1500-1800 as they are good and want to break 2k+

I argree would be nice for some tips from players of all skill. like Whz on youtube why not have a joint youtube account with everyone :)

This guide should be put in SE as a textual helper, with a few edits.

People can make it to the forums by themselves. If they're really too dumb to notice one of the big yellow buttons on the lobby then it's their fault for being stupid. They already have a lot of links for help anyway, eg. game guide button, tutorial, forum button.

Yeah yeah. Just tell them to spam the hell out of miners, swords and archers and you get to 1.8k if you do it well.

More seriously though, if you talk like that, OvO's entire basis is around the steps I just outlined. Obviously each player has their own ideas and style, but that's the basic concepts.

That's true those are the main concepts for order. I'm not going against whatever you're saying, you did a great job and I mean it.

All you need is good micro and macro to get you to 2k tbh. It's not that hard, knowings the basics is all.
