Why didn't you just use the market to buy it?

Bepler forcibly bought me cs:go so woo hoo. I haven't played it much but it seems like it's got a meta to to it. I don't get the whole "Skins" thing though, this game has a fucking workshop so what's the point of them?

I wanted to try out this game but it's 17 bucks and I'm poor. Dammit, I wish you could refund PC games if you didn't like them.

Honestly I used to like CSGO until a friend told me this.

"You realise Source Shooters are fucking garbage, right?"

He was completely right. The CSGO shooting mechanic is only good because it has very good hit-detection, and stuck to being arcade and really accessible. But besides that, the game is so fucking meta that it becomes a chore to play competitively because any particular weapon isn't really made to suit a certain situation, but rather has shooting patterns and recoil spreads that must be committed to memory, and every time you fire your weapon at somebody you have to run through a laundry list of stupid shit you have to do to kill them quickly, because just fucking shooting them doesn't do the trick, and they do the same to you.
Instead of shotguns being used for shotgun shit, or SMGs being used for SMG shit, everybody just goes for ARs and P90 because it's not even about the legitimacy of what the weapons were designed for.
Why bother using a weapon built for CQB in a CQB environment when you could just use the AK and memorize the spread of the weapon and just headbang anybody who bumps into you, completely negating the fact that the AK was designed for more suppressive, longer range engagements?

You'd think that "ooh, M4 is more accurate so you want to keep your distance from guys with AKs because they want to close the distance because their guns have more damage but shit range! What a challenging and complicated game!"

No, it's fucking "Oh, let me pick up this AK because the minute I see somebody at any range I Shift+S and crouch and get a headshot immediately, the exact same thing I'd do with an M4, and the only reason I use these 2 weapons is because they're the weapons with the highest damage per bullet.

TL;DR
CSGO isn't about shooting people with guns. It's about running around with a fucking clipboard full of instructions, and everytime you run into somebody you quickly check everything on that list before they do and they magically die.

The only interesting part of the game are the bluff and double-bluff type shit that happens in the beginning of the round. Other than that, the gunplay's very ehhhhhh and it's just "shooty his booty quikkk!!!!", which the market already has a lot of.

Insurgency's fucking phat, though.

Have you even played a single competitive game? The hit detection in 64tick servers that are used in MM is pure shit, that's why all tournaments and league matches are held at 128tick servers.
Spray patterns help reduce the randomness factor which is a big no-no in competitive gameplay, even tho the game is still filled with lucky shots, spray patterns make the player responsible and in control for where his bullets are going, instead of just holding mb1 and hoping for a lucky kill.
Controlling the full spray of each individual weapon might be hard to handle, but all of the spray patterns for the first 3-5 bullets is pretty much the same-pull the gun down.

I can see why you're thinking that nobody uses shotguns and only go for p90, that's because you're a fucking silver scrub and everyone who tries to rush in with a p90 in higher level play get's shot down instantly 9/10 times.
Smg's are still used as run and spray weapons during anti-eco rounds when the enemies usually don't have armor and are only wielding pistols. Due to low firepower of smgs, buying them in full-buy rounds is useless unless you like hitting an armored opponent for 10hp per bullet.
There are some people that substitute AR's for shotguns if they're holding tight corners, for example Inferno apps as ct's.

Killing the enemy using purely your aim and reflexes IS something very useful, but thanks to the tactical side of the game, even players with shittier aim can outplay others using tactical flashes, holding smart angles and having map awareness. CS:GO is focused on playing as a team, so communication is the key, even if your team is filled with people that can individually kill everyone on the enemy team, if there's no communication and you all are just running like headless chickens, chances are- you will lose. But then again, I don't expect that you've experienced any of this at your silver rank either

What the fuck did you just call me? How about you fucking swallow my dick and nuts, faggot.

I did mention these gripes to a friend who's put in a lot of time, and he mentioned the 64 tick servers. What I was kind of addressing was how the hitdetection is better in CSGO than it is in other competitive shooters.

Call me a silver schlub, but yeah, you rarely see SMGs on solid buy rounds, since they're worthless to armor.

So instead of using like, an SMG in a CQB map, you'll probably shell out for a shit AR, since armor completely defeats SMGs. I only mentioned the P90 because it's a very friendly gun that has the potential to outshoot ARs up close.

I just find that the learning curve is so steep, and although it's nice that there isn't some terminal "good" level, and every player is on a slightly different level, the game becomes incredibly difficult for silver surfers such as myself.

But really, my main this with this game is the shooting mechanic. It's cardboard cutouts sliding along the ground and shooting each other. There isn't any interesting movement mechanic or interesting ways to approach situations. You just slide to where you're going.

But you wouldn't understand any of this, rav. You're just a gay.

All of the competitive maps are designed so there's both- tight and wide areas, so unless you're planing on camping one spot and never rotating buying a smg is useless because you won't hit shit with it at anything above mid range. Where rifles are both good at mid and long ranges, tho when you get ambushed by someone wielding a shotty in a tight are you might not always come out on top. So I really don't understand why the fuck you're complaining here, do you want them to make smgs overpowered just like CZ was when it first came out? Where you could simply double tap everyone with 500$ worth of gear.

The learning curve when it comes to simply controlling your weapon is pretty dull, the things become interesting when you start learning tactics, nade spots, new/unusual camp spots, wallbang spots, boosts, jumps. And if you don't know advanced movement techniques it doesn't mean they don't exist. There's even a different game mode - Kreedz designed just for advanced movement and jumps.

You might be right.

I'm just sad that the competitive scene on TF2 isn't bigger or something, since I like that game a lot more, since the movement and gameplay mechanics are much more varied.
