Riptide
An ancient relic. A long gone souvenir. A living nightmare.
Riptide is knowned under many names but the first one it was ever given was Biorn. Biorn was the god of death in a long forgotten but still existing civilization.
This god required sacrifices. Human sacrifices. He was to ask for mothers to kill and feed of their newborns. To dads to kill and rip open their sons.
If the god-fearing did not accept the task, he would be taken into the night, his corpse would be to dangle from a giant tree right outside the town until the crows finished eating his lifeless corpse.
This god's creation took place in -25 976, at the same time as Kia and Anoh. Kia being the god of life and Anoh, of love.

After thousands upon thousands of years of praying, the wishes became truth.
But unlike the way the people imagined it,
it DOES NOT look like a winged beast.
It DOES NOT look like anything they ever knew.
It DOES NOT look like anything.
When the eastern countries started to explore around, finding america, those people needed to hide. They found a quiet spot, far below the earth's surface where no one could find them.

The beast of their nightmares, to be the only god living on this earth, started feeding off the people's minds. Eating their souls to stay alive.
To keep the believers useful, it stayed as a relaxed form in the middle of Africa. Years after years, the wind blew the sand in all corners of the earth,leaving it to rest.
Because of this, the creature's powers have decreased so it found a way to become stronger.
It is noe able to use the earth and small rocks toform it's body, although it uses more of the people's souls.
Souls which cannot regenerate.

It can be anywhere... or anything.

It hides in the sand, not moving for days. Only rising to catch its preys.
Ignorant travellers walking by, or simply locals not wanting to listen to the rumors of deaths floating by.
Only rumors, because when a prey gets caught, nothing is left of them.
The non-existant proofs of those people walking trough the desert are what fuels the legend.
Transforming in sand so no one can see it, it creates mirages to attract the people like flies.
Feeling vibrations in the sand from miles away, it is the deadliest thing those people have ever encountered.
No other specimens similar to this one have ever been encountered, making it one of a kind.

Not many things are knowned about it because it is impossible to catch, or to hold in place.
The towns around that desert, calls it Riptide.
A hazard to the travelers, swiming trough an ocean of sand.
