I just wanna boast. Earlier this day, students of a particular course (not sure if Multimedia Arts or something else) held some sort of Playoffs event. One of the games was TT2 and when my friend notified me that they were holding a tournament, I was hooked. I haven't played in a long time and I gotta keep excess rust off of me, so I immediately signed up for the tournament. At the time, it didn't start until sometime later so I went to my next class. After waiting through it while suffering a mix of withdrawal, drowsiness, anxiety and excitement; I headed straight for the event room and patiently waited my turn. The matches were 1v1 w/ 3 rounds, which is good because I've completely forgotten how to use other characters. I was expecting the group of players from last november/december hanging out but I was disappointed in that there were only six registrants and none of the group made it. Due to how a couple of players not making it and a really short loser's bracket, I fought a grand total of three matches. (two of which were lackluster)
[Played as Lei the entire time]
1st Match: Newbie girl who used Hwoarang, knows the 2+3 throw and some very basic strings. Totally won, but she got a couple of lucky hits here and there.
2nd Match: Serious Lili player who kept me on my toes. It was a very close match as we keep clutching each other. I thought he was the same guy from the group, turns out he wasn't. Still, he's a pretty good player and I would've lost to him had it not been for sudden mixups.
3rd Match (Loser's bracket winner): Another newbie playing Lili, this time a bit more familiar with the movelist but nothing noteworthy. She totally defied my expectations of her button-mashing and I was getting really careless because I want this over with. I lost a round but I still won. With that I won the brief tournament and won a cash prize worth double my entry fee (200 pesos).
Bonus Match: I stuck around for one more match (technically two), against some dude who used Miguel then Lars. Also won, but he did well since I was just messing around and completely getting my timings wrong.
The entire time I was playing very clumsily, botched some of my staple moves and forgot to use the rest of them but I think I played decent enough. A more seasoned player would beat me once he gets used to how I play. The fact that I'm literally the only Lei player (an obscure one at that) in the campus meta has people taken off-guard. I could ramble on my playing style but this post is big enough as it is.
So yeah, what are your event stories?

Nice Guardian! I love playing Lei when I play tekken usually. But I also have tt2. My favorite character is...idk.. But leo and Asuka both have strong moves! I cannot do chains tho.
I have no event stories. :(

Jin's confirmed, how's that a surprise? I mean, he's one of the main dudes after all, leaving out him would be like leaving out Ryu in Street Fighter :P
My main in all Tekken games is usually Steve. Him not having many kick moves is definitely a big disadvantage, but you can do some crazy shit with him if you sit down and learn.
Plus, him teamed up with Hwoarang is just amazing.

I competed in a street fighter 4 ultra tournament last month. Forget to talk about it here but I won and got $200 cash prize. Goddamn Akuma man, I love him.

But wasn't jin not in the first two tekken games?
Also is yoshimitsu not confirmed for Tek7? That would be a travesty.

Also for the longest people thought Jin was Killed off in tek 6 much like Kazuya in Tek 2, which is why Kazuya technically wasn't in Tek 3

THAT WOULD BE FUCKING HORRIBLE

Yeah but y'know, it's not like they can throw him away now since he's quite the major character and pretty important to the story.
Also is yoshimitsu not confirmed for Tek7? That would be a travesty.
Wait, what? That would suck. He's one of my favorite characters to mess around with and he's a pretty unique fighter.

He has two buttons for the same dodging move though, which is a limit that's quite hard to overcome(at least for me, I used to play Heihachi before him so I had to adjust quite a bit.)

And I shit you not, he's been in every tekken game.
Also he's my favorite.
