"No problem, rounds of Long Islands on me. I'm just gonna take a straight shot or two and really question if I've gotten any better at picking people to work with sense my own business went under for the same damn reason." He rubs his forehead, and starts heading for the van, pauses, and turns back. "Look... I'm just... ugh, I know you guys aren't all horrible monsters. I've seen shit, and everyone's an asshole somewhere inside. It's just eating at me that we were so close to getting through this with nobody getting hurt, then this shit goes down. Maybe you all are more comfortable around death, but dammit, the only dead bodies I'm used to are animals being turned into food, and even that leaves me a bit guilty from time to time."

"Oh, wonderful." Victoria hissed into the headset, wheeling around and heading a different direction altogether. Some serious violence was about to tear these streets apart, and she had no intention of being in the thick of it when that happened. In a rush now she kicked off her heels, leaned down to scoop them up, and sprinted down the streets until she found a box that was well enough of of the way for her to crack open and manipulate without being too obvious.
Mostly due to the sheer number of them, pretty much all of these sorts of boxes were protected by the same default password, which Victoria had memorized well. Panting hard from the run, manicured nails pounded in the code and flung open its doors, reaching in and quickly tearing the alarm wires from their sockets, as well as any other security measures she could detect.
Within the computers here lied all the information she needed. All that was left was was the fun part: hacking into these very terminals until their cracks were ripped open wide enough to read like a book.
Victoria took a moment to clear her mind. She had never hacked into a street security terminal before, but she didn't imagine it could be different enough to throw her for a loop. "Victoria here." She gasped, still breathing heavily. "I'm going to hack the terminal now. Will tell you anything you need to know. Just ask. I'll..." Another deep breath. "I'll let you know the second I can get this thing open. Veeran... Do what you must. I trust your judgement on this for now."

"Roger that, Victoria. We'll take position before I send out the message."
It was important that they all kept their heads calm and cool. If nerves got the better of them, they would all soon be staring into the depths of the black abyss. Veeran regarded Calvin more tenderly than he had thought. A man averse to killing caught in the middle of bloodshed.
"I understand your concern, Calvin. Believe me, I have done what I can to avoid murder. But as you know too well, even the finest wines have left behind a trail of crushed grapes. I don't know why they chose to make you a part of the council if you wanted to avoid violence. But you are one of us now, and we need you to put this ugly business past you. Godspeed. I trust that the former Doctor Liston can give you directions to his apartment. We'll meet you there when this business is concluded."

Cal listens to Veeran, and with a sigh, nods. "You've got a point. I'll be in the van, you all figure out the bloody bits." He heads for the van, taking the driver's seat and leaning his head to the wheel while in wait. This wasn't what he'd expected he'd have to deal with. He'd been called on as an investigator, someone who could make connections, slither in through his skills and easygoing, conversationalist nature. Straight up murder had never been on the board before now, and with it taking it's position, he couldn't help but feel they were the ones now getting played. They couldn't drop out of things anymore with this; the deaths of those men were now shackles on their necks, and a single slip up would drag them into the depths.

So much shit was happening, and it was fucking great. Roth had practically emptied his canteen into his mouth from the time Victoria went inside until he stuck that bastard through the spine. Roth was getting off more at the expression on Victoria's face than he had when she was... persuading Adrian. Before he had time to say something brutally charming to her she had run off to do some sci-fi shit. Veeran was busy being the tool that he was and coming up with yet another plan. Why can't these flesh sacks just fucking blow some shit up? Roth assumed mother Russia would've been packing an RPG or something that she could've used to paint the streets with the face of that fucking snitch, Mick. Even though Roth didn't necessarily like Veeran, he trusted a man that couldn't use his head anymore would at least be able to use his brain to come up with a decent plan, since he isn't easily distracted by other means. Swinging his shotgun up and across his shoulders, Roth replied to Veeran in a snarky tone, "Maybe we should try to keep Mick alive to see if he over heard those thugs spewing some important shit before we off him. Furthermore, as much as I love just splattering people's fucking shit all over a wall, I don't think it's safe to go inside of the club. I'm sure there's a dumpster around here that might do a better job at concealing me and protecting me if they start firing back. I know I'm not as smart as you, professor, but if I die, who's going to take care of the woman." Roth had a sickly grin on his face as he winked to Veeran in a joking manner, but he wasn't really joking. That bitch was hot and he knew everyone else wanted a piece of that ass just as much as he did.

"I can take care of myself just fine." Victoria snapped back over the microphone, fingers flying over the terminal keyboard. The banter gave her the barest ghost of a smile, despite herself. "I suggest you worry about yourself first. You will need a way out of this place alive if you even survive the firefight. I will provide covering fire once I receive my AR, but I will not stick around for long if I don't have to."

Veeran squinted at Roth. The man was despicable, but then again, who among them wasn't? A thoroughly unpleasant man, perhaps, but a survivor. Veeran could tell from the look in his eyes that this man had been through unspeakable horrors and lived to tell the tale. Veeran felt a grudging respect for his resilience but did not show it.
"Do as you wish, Mr. Roth. It will be your neck on the line. I appreciate your concern for Mick's... well being. While I doubt that highly trained security officers are going to blurt out secrets in the presence of their hostage, I do realise that the little runt might be of some use to us. This entire debacle might be his fault, but it has also shown how woefully under-manned we are. But I would still like to remind you that we pulled off an impossible heist perfectly, until he came along."
Veeran shook his head as if not believing the words pouring out of his own mouth.
"We will try and save him. But only a minimal effort. What matters most is that we all leave here alive and that he provides no information to them. We do what we can to shoot the guards so that he might escape. But if it looks too difficult or at the slightest whiff of treachery, I will plant a bullet between his eyes, and we leave immediately. Do we all agree?"
Veeran didn't give them time to respond. The van might be getting too far already. He held his phone up for Roth to see, and pushed SEND.

Ooc:I feel like there isn't much left to do until cook does the next chapter, so let's see what happens.
Apr 17, 2015 5:14 PM #1349715
OOC: Yeah I guess, unless he wants us to detail some action plan like the previous round, before he posts. The only thing I would add to the plan is that we absolutely do NOTHING until the thugs bring Mick out of the van in exchange for Adrian. We do not give our location away until we're 100% sure on that. Apart from that, I think this is as good as it'll get, though I have a feeling you and I might not make it out of this one without some serious damage.

OOC: School is screwing me over in this rp, come on lol. So devour did everything... Leaving me in the dust again. So the plan is well underway I guess there isn't much for me to do. I won't be like this over the weekend, promise lol

OOC: You can still post your stuff now. We'd like to see your skills in action. Improvise.

Ooc: just rp out what your character was doing while everything was happening. As for the plan the way I see it going I think my guy will be pretty guarded considering the dumpster would block most if not all gunshots leaving only his upper body exposed but still it's covered in armor as well. Even then, after lobbing a few smoke bombs at them everyone is still pretty concealed so all Roth has to do is burst a few rounds into the smoke cloud. We clear the scene, grab mick and take off in the van. Smoke grenades encompass a pretty large area and are extremely thick. You won't see through one at all, and just one grenade is more than enough to fill the width of an alley way.
Apr 17, 2015 5:37 PM #1349724
OOC: Yes but how will you see through the smoke to locate Mick exactly, and to NOT shoot him in the face when you open fire? I hope you have some kind of killer perception.
