It made national news that in Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.A. a riot broke out. Allegedly the police murdered someone, and there was a protest. In the midst of that protest violence broke out against the police and sparked massive riots in the city. Do you think the police are innocent when suspects die? Here in this country this has been a huge controversy and everyone has a side. I personally think that the police are in the wrong.

Were are considered innocent until proven guilty. Unless someone is directly attacking a police officer with deadly force, there shouldn't be any deadly force coming from the police officer. As for the riots I see them as motivation for the cops not to murder someone. They don't want another riot like this to happen again, so they'll be sure not to murder people.

People have made this into a race war, but that's inaccurate. It's not a white vs. black problem, this is an authority vs. normal citizen issue.

I think that the term police brutality is somewhat of a misnomer at times. When the police kill a detained person, that isn't police brutality.

It's murder.

Agreed. The only excuse to kill someone is when someone is about to kill you. This applies to war and extreme self defense. Here's a question, how plausible would a jury find for a normal citizen to kill a cop due to self defense, as opposed to the other way around?

The legal system is fucked. If a civilian were to kill a cop and say it was self defense It wouldn't fly at all unless he/she had some serious serious proof. Eye witnesses and videos

Aren't the cops in this case going to face legal action now? Isn't that the latest news?

One of them is charged with involuntary man-slaughter, second degree assault, and misconduct in office. She ignored the request for a medic for the man.

Another is charged with involuntary man-slaughter, and second-degree depraved-heart murder.

In total, 4 were charged with IMS, 3 with false imprisonment, all 6 were charged with assault and misconduct. What kind of makes it worse is that at one point they checked on him and still refused to give him medical attention. It wasn't until they stopped to pick up another prisoner that they noticed he was unconscious.

Now I typically don't choose sides in police brutality cases, but I have to go with the people on this one. 3 officers failed to determine the cause for his arrest, and tackled him to ground, shackled his feet, and was loaded head-first onto the floor of a van.

http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?90118-A-Police-Debate , there is nothing we can really do about it. People having more power than other people = using force to get their way.
