It shows the number value to enter for each symbol. You can also just copy and paste them from it. Set the "Starting At" field to the ascii number you want to start at, and the middle box will show ten symbols starting from that number. You can also use the arrows to scroll through them.

I think Microsoft Word would have a longer, yet more detailed, listing of all the useless glyphs you can make with them. Also, I think CTRL + X works for something....I would have to test a few out again.
