View Profile Yeah, haha. Back when I used to live in New York we had to lift our windows upwards. There were like two locks on either side of the top of the window you lifted which decides whether you want to be able to lift that window or not. I've never personally seen a hinged window unless it was in a picture or something, so it's really weird for me. Are all of your windows like that, or is it just certain ones?
Also I used to have little to no idea what a scone is and we learned the standard American mesaurement system before the metric system in elementary school, even though I favor the metric one. I guess this door hinge thing is just another difference like the ones I mentioned between we Americans and other countries, lol.

View Profile Opening windows outwards/inwards isn't very aerodynamic because there's a large surface area traveling against the wind. Also, opening windows by pulling them up is inefficient as it needlessly requires you to exert extra energy in order to overcome gravity. Australian windows offer a superior experience through highly efficient horizontal sliding technology.

View Profile I think you're underestimating the size of an inside. Or overestimating the size of a window. Windows lose heat and there isn't all that much light in Britain for them to let in, so I wouldn't be surprised if ours are a lot smaller than yours.
to be fair my windows are bloody massive, even though we get fuck all sun
