He potentially could, but if his ability was in his dead body, what good would that do?

In that case, with the fact you said it would take about 15 seconds for him to die from withering, even if Rex does blow him up, they would both die.
Let's say Rex rushing in mechanical sword blazing. Wither gets him, and he resorts to long range. If wither goes down, wouldn't Rex still die?

Allow me to tackle this in a few ways.

1. Wither's powers work in the form of continuous contact. On a normal person, even temporary contact would be pretty bad, but as noted, Rex has enhanced regenerative abilities. That means that if he can break from Wither's grip in time, while he still has things that can be healed, he'll be able to survive.

2. What do you mean by "blow up" exactly?

3. If he rushes in with his BFS (though his usual preference is his giant fists, but we'll ignore that), then yes, he'll be able to damage Wither, but his sword will also begin to break down and potentially move to his body. There'll likely be some form of pause from the realization of Wither's nature, which will give Wither a chance to rush him. It isn't like he can jump super far or anything, and it'd take time for him to create his mechanical legs or jetpack to get away. From a vampire.

4. The actual rushing with the sword. His sword isn't really suited for thrusts or stabs, due to size. It's slicing exclusive, or crushing can be argued. That means that it isn't particularly fast anyways, making it a bad matchup against a normal-looking human sized opponent.

Edit: Ninja'd.

Typically, his weapon(s) of choice are the Smack Hands, the giant robot fists he has that he can rotate at high speeds. They're a sort of "dual" weapon and give extended range as well as the flexibility of being hands, which is why they may be the weapons shown used the most.

Here's a list of all his machines, though he's only been using his primary machines, none of the Omega-1 machines.

Give me a ruling on ONE weapon, the one he normally uses when he 'rushes in blindly'. Cause based on your rules, thats the one we have to assume he has for this fight to begin with.

Will it be the Gloves?

Sticking to one weapon to rush in, then yes, we'll go with the Smack Hands because of his natural preference. The ones that are used for his character image on the front page. Helps give a more definite start. Any machine changes after that are up for debate; you did propose a good strategy of using his jetpack to get away then going for long distance combat.

Alright, I have read the previous posts, but I need to clear this up further. If Rex went in with his, say, smack hands, wouldn't he be able to punch Wither hard enough to send him flying? Because a single punch only keeps contact for a maximum of like 2 seconds, and Wither's 'Wither' wouldn't have a chance to do anything. Is there something i'm missing here, since Wither's ability only works on contact?

Wither's abilities take place on contact, yes, but immediately on contact. The times I gave were for completely eating through a person, not completely eating through a limb or something. When Wither permanently destroyed Wallflower's arm, he was in contact with her for maybe 3-5 seconds before realizing he had his powers, and it couldn't be restored because "there was nothing left to restore." That said, if Smack Hands make contact with Wither, they'll immediately start breaking down, even if they do deal some damage, and as a vampire, Wither will be able to tank such a hit. Other normal humans have been shown to take a shot from Smack Hands and continue fighting, so that's not me being biased or anything.

Also, it's not entirely unlikely that Wither could, say, grab onto the Smack Hand when he gets punched and just keep breaking it down until he can reach Rex?

And here's a video showing his preference for the Smack Hands:

Yeah, I suppose so. But the thing about these kinds of battles it that it depends a lot on things that are usually used for plot( what you guys called Plot Induced Stupidity). Rex's 'Do first, think later' attitude is just for plot, as Nish said before, but given the right amount of time and planning, Batman beat Superman, so who can really say?
I'm gonna vote Rex, because it seems more plausible.

To an extent, it is PIS, but it's also cockiness from continuous victories, passed down traits from his mother, and general "being a teenager" attitude. In real life, people with high intelligence don't just use it whenever they like, do they? That all said, I play Devil's Advocate for both sides. Both contenders can win this fight, it just depends on who people believe is more likely to win. I don't vote because I like being the unbiased party.

You've stated that Rex can only use one weapon at a time, yet when he fought the Consortium when they had Rex's powers [before they fused], GR managed to use his Big Fat Sword and Smack Hands at the same time.

Check 1:46 to 1:51 where he still had BFS in his right and Smack Hand on his left.

::Edited the video link due to availability issues::

Now, I'm unsure on this since its a crossover event but at 0:48 onwards, Rex is capable of using his Boogie Pack and BFS at the same time.

There are some that are incapable of being there at the same time, like his bike and cannons, etc.

We're talking 616 Wither? According to his storyline, Wither was taken with Selene and turned into a vampire when he fully accepted his powers. Do we assume that Kevin is at this point in his storyline? If he is, then if Rex does get too close, Wither will do his best to latch onto GR the first try he gets and since Rex is reckless the first time, he'd likely lose an arm or his life. That's my opinion.

I've read on the previous pages that, sure, Wither may be already on the killing mood on the get go but I'm just putting this out there that since he has his vampire state already, he may acceptably be in a state that's out for blood in this fight whilst GR still testing the waters.

Additionally, if GR does survive the first encounter, he'd be smarter than to attempt another CQC situation. I agree that he'd go up in a building and snipe out Wither with the Slam Cannons. Vampire or not, enough blunt force trauma from a speeding cement floor can still hurt an immortal death touch mutant. GR also has the advantage of mobility with the Boogie Pack and his bike which Kevin can't even catch up to.

It boils down to the first few minutes of the fight for Wither and if GR manages to survive it, it falls to GR as a win much like how you guys said.

That's how I see it.

The first video is unavailable, but the second looks to have him in his Upgrade Suit and with Upgrade from Ben 10 also attached, which highly improves his abilities. Considering the way BFS works, though, it does make sense that it could work with a single Smack Hand, as it's a dual-nature machine. With Boogie Pack, Smack Hands and Punk Busters normally, they pull out two weapons at once, so I could accept that as a valid combination. Do note though that it's an unusual combination, and the video I posted earlier did show his preference for both Smack Hands as his weapons of choice, as well as his switching to utilize different ones.

Edited the link, Azure.

Yes, I understand his preference but if you take a take into consideration that if GR does manage to realize that facing Wither head on will be the death of him, his preference should be thrown out the window if he wants to defeat this mutant. He'd distance himself and use ranged weapons.

Wither at this stage with Vampirism, accepts his powers and fully uses them willfully. If he sees GR, he may assume he is another mutant Selene could use as a sacrifice for her ascension to godhood which in turn fuels his motivation to kill GR.

GR however will go toe-to-toe on the first fight to test how well an EVO Wither is, which he will learn if Wither manages to touch/grapple/contact him.

EDIT:: In the same video, I edited where Rex manages BFS and Smack Hands, Rex is also capable of his bike + Slam Cannon // Boogie Pack + Slam Cannon. Check 2:00 to 2:03. This somewhat solidifies his mobility and ability to damage Wither from afar if he survives the first contact.

I did notice that, though, it did seem his slam cannon was considerably weakened from its usual destructive nature, which is likely due to it being smaller than usual. I'd guess this is from trying to spread his nanites thin to multitask his machines. But you do bring a good argument to the table, and its worth taking into consideration.

So, I believe we can all come to the consensus that in the beginning of the fight, Wither has the advantage, and after first contact, if he doesn't take out or heavily debilitate Rex, then Rex takes the advantage the rest of the fight through keep away at range.

The thing about Rex's machines is that whenever they get damaged, he can just make them fall to the ground in pieces. He could do this while his smack hand is getting withered and prevent the wither effect from reaching his actual body. Right?
