So yeah, the supreme court legalized gay marriage in the USA.

Ok, let me spell this out:

I am curious if a population decrease would be a bad thing. I am not asking if gay marriage would be the propagator of said population decrease. It could be a secondary plague for all I care.

That sounds like a topic for a different thread to me

sounds like a topic that can easily be researched elsewhere. start here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Population_decline

I'm hugely against overpopulation so IMO no it wouldn't be an issue, but there's not going to be a decline in population growth either way.

The link explains what population decline is, even offers statistics of current declines. However, it doesn't much address the issue on if declines are inherently good or bad. There's only a short piece near the bottom discussing some economic troubles that'd arise (which seems to rely heavily on younger generations earning more money for older generations in a vicious cycle). So it doesn't really address my question.

All that said, I'll just make a debate thread on the topic some time when I'm back on campus and can find some sources.

it's not inherently good or bad, depends on a lot of factors, most of which are mentioned in that economic issues section as well as the "see also" links. it's a good overview with which you can make your own decision.

I know it's sarcasm, but I asked that question in all seriousness. Would a population drop actually be an issue?

Haha are you fucking kidding me?

We need to ask ourselves two questions.

When has the population ever declined?
and
Did it have anything to do with homosexuals?

I think it is wonderful and needed to be done. I agree with the statements that it is as significant as the Plessy v. Ferguson case. Now everyone can be happy cc: Except for the conservatives, that is.

Please stop misconstruing my question. I can't tell if it's a joke or not in your case, but it's worn thin considering I explained it several times now.

How have I misconstrued your question exactly?

From what I understand you're seriously considering the possibility of a population drop. If you mean that in any way relevant to the topic of this thread it's just laughable.

If you want a serious answer to your question, then no, homosexual marriage isn't going to cause a decrease in population.

I'm not going to cite sources, I'm not going to substantiate it with evidence. That topic itself is entirely a waste of my time.
You're gonna just have to take my word for it.

It really is about goddamn time
God must be pretty miffed about the whole thing, it's almost as if he had no say in the matter

Perhaps it is all part of His grand design.

Because once again, I asked about a population decrease, period. Not homosexual marriage leading to a population decrease. At no point in my question did I imply anything about homosexual marriage leading to one, I literally asked if an occurance (population decrease) is truly bad or not. I'd like to stop bringing this up in this topic now, as I believe at this point it is derailing.

Good.

Then get the fuck out of my thread, if you're gonna talk about shit that isn't relevant.

Whoa whoa Jutz, calm it yo lol. He REPEATEDLY stated that he didn't believe homosexuality had anything to do with a population drop. He just wanted an answer to something and was wondering whether to create a seperate thread for it, or get a quick answer here since we were on the topic.

It was kinda off-topic, but 'Get the fuck out of my thread' seems excessive, and I think Raptor and AI warned a kid from the SE section for saying exactly something like this.

On-topic: How many gay sitcom characters are now going to deal with storylines about getting married? I know Modern Family did it a year ago.

If anyone has played the video game Fire Emblem: Awakening, its sequel, Fire Emblem: Fates apparently allows for same-sex marriages lmao. Slightly relevant I feel though the game was released before this supreme court decision.

i literally cannot impact this and it has nothing to do with me.
People can do what they want, but I wouldn't do it myself.
I heard that the Court basically forced this onto the states, is that true?
