I know you increases your rating when you win, and you lose it when you lose, but how many you win a lose against another rating?, how do exactly it works?

ELO system (Original created and used for chess).

Pretty much you play matches and based on the skill level difference or equality you get a certain level of points.

So 2.5K beats 1300 he gets 0-1 point.

Other way around 1300 gets +32 2.5K gets -32

(Notice: Chess ELO has greater gains and losses)

The ELO system just doesn't work well for so many games, like SE.

I feel the ELO system works pretty well with SE. If you lose to a lower ranked player that is on you. It only shatters when top players use alts, therefor resulting in a higher loss for the player on his main. The respectable thing to do would be to surrender even if you won, as it isn't your main, but when people don't, it causes some players to get upset.

Ase, there are a lot of issues with the ELO system. Game freezers, lag exploiters, multi accounts (and I don't know almost any player who doesn't have a few accounts), and so much else... it doesn't work on SE, as SE is so different than cheese.

I am sure there are exploiters in chess as well.

How would you exploit in chess? There are regulations in tournaments that prevent people from using engines, and chess.com is not really the official ranking system for good players.

Alt accounts? for example sparkchess is just a 1v1 situation in a free multiplayer lobby. Just keep forfeiting to yourself.

I am saying there are boosters on other websites, excluding tournaments and chess.com.
