I probably should of posted this in game suggestions, but this is a whole gamemode I am talking about so I feel it is a little bit of a bigger deal than one simple suggestion. This is going to be a long post so feel free to grab a beverage, sit back and relax, and enjoy the ideas.
What is Mixed Empire? - Basically, Mixed Empire is an gamemode where you can choose which troops you want from all 3 empires. (Before you complain that this may be unbalanced, etc. wait until you finish reading).
Wouldn't this be Unbalanced? - Not neccesarily... Basically in Mixed Empire you cannot simply just pick to have speartons, jugs, charrogs, and all flying units, as that would be op and mess you up in the early game. The unit types relate to the simplicity of 1 worker, 1 ranged unit, 1 melee/tank, 2 spell casters/meric (support), 1 scout, 1 flying ranged unit, 1 melee unit, and 1 heavy tank.
Melee Unit Choices: You can pick to have either a sword, crawler, or an earth elemental in this slot.
Ranged Unit Choices: You can pick to have either a archer, dead, or fire elemental in this slot.
Melee/Tank Unit Choices: You can pick to have either a spearton, juggerknight, or charrog (will explain how combinations will work later).
Flying Ranged Unit Choices: You can choose to have either an albowtross, wing, or air elemental in this slot.
Scout Unit Choices: You can choose to have either a ninja, bomber, or water elemental in this slot.
Spell Caster Choices: You can choose to have either a magikill, meric, medusa, marrowkai in these 2 slots.
Spell Caster Combo Choices: The 2 slots can be occupied by combinations too, (will explain later) V, Scorch, Blind Gate (like anyone would use that lol), Cycloid, Inferno, Treature.
Heavy Tank Choices: Order Giant, Chaos Giant, or Huge Charrog, (balanced hp, speed, dmg).
----------------------------------------------------------------
How do Miners work? - Simple. Whichever Empire is the most present throughout your build will have that miner. For example, if you have 5 order units, 3 chaos units, and 1 elemental unit, you will have the Order Miner. This is the same conditions for if the Castle Archer/Castle Dead/Castle Air.
Why would the Miners work that way? There are a few reasons but I will list two main ones. Someone could just pick an order miner with a spearton, the rest of the troops being chaos. A chaos that is able to turtle just as good if not better than the Order Empire is not balanced, but this whole gamemode would probably not be balanced. Also, this prevents The ability to have walls or turrets whilst having a V, as it would have 5 ele units, which is the majority making the miner a chompler.
This could also temporarily satisfy Ele's need for a strong late game tank by having either an order or chaos giant.
How will Earth Elemental work? - I have found two situations on how to use the Earth Elemental. One is you take away it's ability to morph, turn it to 125g whilst having a chompler cost 150g, which isn't a good idea due to the obvious reasons. The other option is to have the earth elemental take up both the worker and melee slots, giving it's morph back. Both of these have different problems of their own, so I am not sure how that would work out.
How will Combinations Work? - Whilst selecting which troops you want in your customized army, if you choose to select two elementals, for example an earth and fire elemental to take up the melee and ranged unit slots, the option to have an charrog combination will also appear under the melee/tank options, which would require the standard combo of an earth and fire for the present charrog. List goes on with Vs, Cycloids, Treatures, Scorch, etc.
Why spend a lot of time on making this game mode? - Good question. It would give members other things that they can do, which would make more people want to purchase a membership, as this gamemode would have to be membership only due to the use of chaos and ele of course. This wouldn't be so competitive of a gamemode such as classic, but it would be a fun gamemode to play around with.
Also you could add a dm mode, which means chaos won't be the "top dog" in dm as there are some combinations of troops that can result in an anti-chaos build.
Of course I can't imagine how much of a pain this would be to code, so this is why this gamemode is most likely not to show up. If it did though, there would most likely be an increase in memberships as more people would want to try out this gamemode which makes you have a different experience almost every time which would require you to think on your feet and overall provide a different "look" and "feel" to the game.
This gamemode could also tie into the ever popular requested customize-able statues.
If I had to guess what the most painful thing about this gamemode coding-wise would be, it would be the abilities. The abilities would have to be displayed from which troops you decided to bring with you. For example let's say I bring in a sword, dead, meric, medusa, spearton, bomber, air ele, chaos giant. There are more chaos units so it would be a chaos miner.
The following abilities would be present:
Always present: Miner Hustle, Resi, Passives 1, 2, 3 ; Tower Spawn 1, 2.
Miners: Would include Miner Turrets due to more chaos empire troops being present.
Melee: Due to Swords and Speartons being present, Rage, shield wall, shield bash.
Ranged: Due to deads, poison guts. Due to chaos majority, Castle Dead 1, 2, 3.
Spellcasters: Due to meric and medusa, cure and venom flux.
Heavy Tanks: Due to Chaos Giant, Giant Growth 1, 2.
How will I be able to customize my army? - When a match is found, you have 30 seconds to pick and choose which troops/combinations you want in your army.
What would my miner be if I had the same number of troops from 2 different empires? - You can select if you want an order miner or chaos miner if you have 4 order troops and 4 chaos troops, etc.
Once again, this would be a REAL pain in the #!@$ to code, but it would be a very fun and interesting gamemode to check out.
Of course I know there are various combinations that will be too op/unbalanced but hey, what can you do about it? This is meant for fun, not competition either.

Pretty cool idea... only major problem I see is that if you choose say two ele units, you lose certain combo upgrades like V...
I think there are so other options that would be easier to implement that would make the game more fun and more engaging.
The biggest one in my mind is a mode with an expanded upgrade tree...
So, say for giant, two additional upgrade trees... one for say greater throw range, or one for say armor, etc.
Archer, one for greater range, or one for greater fire speed, etc. that would add some interesting dynamics, but I would suggest longer fields as well (bring back grass-hills).

No, you can have all four elementals as base troops and still be able to create a V. I said two spellcasters, meaning you will have to choose over the Ele combos (besides charrog).

Pretty solid idea overall, have fun members :P

Fun Fact: I thought about this idea when I was exiting the bathroom. Must have enhaled those toxic fumes and gotten high or something.

The problem with this idea is that each empire has its own strong meta. A straight O, C (or E?) would beat a mixed race every time simply because their units were made to compliment each other. So you would probably have to implement a minimum amount of units from each empire you can pick.
Also spear/meric/dead op.
Also spear/meric/dead op.

it is a fun idea overall, I would like to try it xD
And yea spear/meric/dead combo is pretty solid
maybe I want to try cycloid/magikill/chaos giant to counter :P

Straight O, C, and E is not allowed, you must mix it up. I am sure there are a couple ways of beating many combinations.
Perhaps a spear dead meric counter would include magikill and a couple infernos with a giant or two, press them back into the castle and set up the death trap with your spells :P

I think that is what makes this interesting... no rank/rating, so totally just a fun, play for fun, explore/experiment game mode.

Kinda sandboxy. I personally would buy a membership just because this existed.

As a custom match I think it would be pretty fun to play with, and could be used for some tournaments, but I really don't want to see anything split up the ranked queuing further.

Keep in mind the only players who would probably use this would be 1.7k or lower. That being said, the ranking queue is quite bad. I clicked play match at around 9pm, went to bed at 12am and got scared awake by a 100% volumed matchup at 2am. True story.

I usually don't have to wait that long for my matches. I guess I'm lucky that I suck.

Usually it is only a 50-100 ELO difference there...
