This is a game roughly based on Starcraft 2 (and the Grecco-Persian Wars). So why not have another ranking system that resets every 3 months similar to SC2's. The ladder system.
In SC2 there are seasons in which people rank for points and advance through leagues. I figured in SE we could integrate another leaderboard (classic only) where we got points for ranking games and winning. It could be like:
1 Wins = 10 points
1 Loss = -4 points (assuming the player has points to give - if they have two points they will lose them).
This prevents simply playing hundreds of matches and instantly surrendering to get points.
It also adds a leaderboard of active players (though alts is another issue).
With a leaderboard of active players, the best with many wins (and a good win to lose ratio). You can seed large tournaments of 64+ active members (assuming you get 64 willing participants). Tournaments with equal numbers, but lesser stature (we ain't gonna host a tournament in Greece, Toronto, Poland, anywhere other then our homes [unless we get much more popular and the pros make money and are willing to host tourneys at places :P])
Now we need an additional, not available to everyone but chat admins and devs, communicating system. Like a PM where it shows a little mail icon in the corner. You open it and it invites you to a tourney, and you reply (however it expires in 3-6 days).
Well this is the current idea. I personally think It'd be interesting. There would of course be a few bugs, but I think in the majority It'd work out.
~ Idea subject to change :p

Sounds cool... so many things would be an improvement over the current ELO system.

I sort of was suggesting it as a side, maybe we could also include email verification .-.

So points are unlimited and anyone can get them if their win/loss ratio is above 1/2.5
Cant say I like this idea very much. More of an indicator of activity than of skill.

this is true, we could do a above 1700 rule like the live replays.

This would eliminate a majority of the alt problems if you maybe put it up to 2k because they would have to commit to staying above 2k at all times, however for example mystery already has multiple ones up there. Not sure how we tackle this alt situation anymore lol. Maybe.. when you create an account you have to click the checkbox labeled do you have another account? and you would type in that account which made it impossible for them to match up? :P

No. 2 leaderboards makes waiting times long enough already. 3 would be a nightmare.

Leaderboards are simply stats.. I believe he is talking about an event we can do which would lower queue time for us?

It is still normal ranked matches, just there are adding 2 stats at the end of the rating, ELO and ladder pts.
@Ase 1900 would be better because there are not 100 active 2K players.

When a player above 1800 ranks he get/loses ELO point and gets/loses ladder points.
You get your active players with really good W/L ratios at the top of the leaderboards and we use these leaderboards to seed large scale tournaments.

Still not fair for peeps that can't escape lag queue...
I've already played CJ many times (on alt not in lag queue), I asked him in the game if it was lagging and he said no. He said a few normal matches should get me back into normal one, has not happened..
And I find it really stupid because there are still high ranked lag2winners in the normal queue, maylon1101, iheraldi, caubengoviet, etc

maylon, lag2win. Nawww
The other two definitely.
As for escaping lag queue Probs won't happen with this game. But this sets up killer tournaments.

What kind/amount of "Leagues" would we integrate into Stick Empires? Because for one, this game is not the most popular, and if there are too many divisions/leagues, then finding a match would be a lot longer. For the current amount of players, 5 would probably be the most (This is given on whether or not you have to spend most of your queue time in finding people the same league, such as SC 2)

I am not saying integrating leagues, I am saying everyone beyond a certain elo participates, and the top 100 (active with best W/L ratio) gets placed. How ever hosting a tournament off this would mean we have to cross off alts, and dirty cheats. It is more like Grand Masters SC2
