Tournament Format
This is a SEASONAL SERIES tournament.
Seasonal Series
- Four tournaments occurring a year, roughly three months apart.
- Main Tournament: 16 player Double Elimination
- Top 8 from the last tournament (regardless of seasonal or world championship) automatically qualify.*
- The last 8 players are decided in a challenger playoff; the top 16 rated players (after the seeded players) are paired up and play a Bo5 to gain access to the main tournament.
- All matches are Best of 3, with the exceptions of the semifinals (Best of 5) and the finals (Best of 7).
- Please be prompt with your games; the deadline days allowed for each match is equivalent to BoX (e.g. Bo3 = 3 days)
- Officially casted games will only be done from Round 2 of the Winners' Bracket and Round 3 of the Losers' Bracket. This is in the interest of time efficiency.
World Championship
- One tournament occurring at the end of the year.
- Main Tournament: 8 player Single Elimination**
- 1st and 2nd from each Seasonal Series gain qualification to this event.
- If multi-series finalists/withdrawals occur, third placers will play for remaining placings.
- The quarterfinals and semifinals are Best of 5, the finals is a Best of 7 to decide it all.
- The winner of this tournament is crowned Stick Empires World Champion.
* The first tournament, SEWCS 2015: Autumn Series has the top 8 rated players being automatically seeded.
** In 2015, SEWCS was established halfway through the year thus a 4 player Single Elimination occurs.
Game Ruleset
- Your first game is played on Forest.
- Every successive game's map is picked by the loser. The winner gets the opportunity to strike one map, meaning this map is banned out and cannot be chosen.
- The map striked last game cannot be striked again.
- Empire switches are banned in Best of 3, one switch is allowed in Best of 5 and two switches are allowed in Best of 7. (Random is not an empire available to be chosen.)
- Only the losing player may change empires. If they do, they relinquish map control and the winner may counterpick a map. The loser does not get to strike one map.
- Any game must be decided within 12 minutes. After the game timer hits 12 minutes, the player with tower control wins the game. If the tower is being contested (no one has control), then the next player with control wins. In the circumstance no player successfully captures it by 14 minutes, the player who last had tower control wins.
- If the opposing player is lagging, and the game is moving abnormally slow to the point where it is uncomfortable, you have the right to request a lag test. A TO will play an up to three minute deathmatch with the player, before making a verdict. If the player is found to not be giving any significant latency, any results from the previous game remain. However, should there be trouble with lag, the TO has the right to DQ on grounds of not being able to support the match at proper gameplay speed.
- Pausing for any reason during a game will result in a forfeit if elected by your opponent. Even if there are technical difficulties, it's up to your opponent to allow that. Plan in advance and test your hardware!
- It is not in breach of the rules to talk to your opponent, but keep it clean. Any vulgar language, obscenities or disruptive behaviour with malicious intention (e.g. distract your opponent) will not be tolerated, and you will be warned or DQ'd depending on the severity of the incident.
- If anything your opponent does is questionable, you may take a snapshot of it to provide proof of any illegal play, and upload it to an image sharing site before addressing it to a TO. Abuse of this system, however, will cause for DQ on holding up the match and attempt at creating injustice.
- If a game freezes or goes OOS, the player's may mutually agree on who had a decisive advantage in the game. If they conclude the game is too close to call, a rematch should be played. If they do not agree, the replay, if retained, should be sent to a TO to make a verdict; who may crown a player a victor of a game or call for a rematch.
- When a match is concluded, the replays must be sent to DragonArcherZ (enjin) with the winner of each game listed, and the map played as well as any empire switches that occurred.
