Kind of old, but Nimble Quest and Kingdom Rush series are good games on mobile.

Holy shit I just played the best rhythm game ever:
Lost in Harmony is said to come out in both android and ios, but so far only the latter is out. This game is all about THE FEELS and how it incorporates 2 genres into a challenging combination. Sick and tired of the usual tap-to-the-rhythm ddr clones? Lost in Harmony combines precise timing with Reverse Temple Run mechanics. So not only are you tapping shit, but dodging shit as well. And the obstacles go hand in hand with the beats of the song, its brilliant.
But if you should play this, it's really for the story. You play as a kid who daydreams about saving your girl friend from what is metaphorically cancer. Yeah. It doesn't even try to hide it; it's Cancer. Surprising given the age of the protagonists but it makes it all the more heartwarming. In between the levels you get to chat with your friend about the situation IRL and those FEELS are magical moments translated to when you play the levels. And there are alot of them. 12 to be exact.
Get it asap.

I also have a recommendation: Wayward Souls ie: roguelike Dark Souls. 'nuff said.
Or to clarify: yes, it's Rougelike. You die, you lose all your progress and upgrades. But you do have gold, for upgrading your base stats. Separate base stats and bonus for... 6 different classes, each with distinct playstyles. (Warrior is newb-friendly, as per usual) As for the upgrades as you progress, they are obtained via a forge, whose two upgrade is randomized and you can freely choose 1 of them, or not. The levels are hard, but not too long, fitting of mobile. So go for it!
You died, you tried.
