Airdodging in melee is great, it prevents people from spamming it so that means easier edge. And not to mention, it provides a great spacing tech called wavedashing

i know what wave dashing is. That's easy for you to say, i for one am a smash 4 player who has never played Melee before the tournament i went to. so when i air dodged wasn't expecting to do some weird flying thing.

speaking of smash 4 they had a smash 4 booth thing that you could play at when you were done and i kicked tons of butt at it, i also learned that dunking someone with mario is more satisfying then quickscoping with kirby

You know that weird flying thing has saved me tons of times when I edged as Jigglypuff. It can basically be counted as another jump when you are offstage

I guess the reason why I'm always losing is because I never shield. :P

Don't worry, I was. Sorry, it's sort of an inside joke. shouldn't have said it out loud.

And who says you need shield to win? I'm gonna see if I can win some matches without shielding or rolling

I played smash 4 for the first time at my mates house after piffing some zoots. He mains pikachu and wrecked me every game either because he outplayed me or told me to pick characters like mewtwo. The only time I beat him was in a villager ditto because he suicided with the rocket.

I have brawl but i never play it , haven't played melee in a good few years and back then i wasn't aware of any of the technical shit i'd just button mash with roy/marth

to make a long story short, back when I was still a noob (and I kinda still am) whenever I tried to attack somebody, whether they were a CPU or an actual player, they shielded. Then before I could attack again (Back then I played as DK a lot, who has relatively slow attacks) they would grab me and throw me. This happened many times. And this still happens today, though MUCH less frequently than it used to. Also back then, I thought shielding was useless b/c if you shield too long, you could get paralyzed and shielding wouldn't be much help against rapid attacks, as once you stop shielding, you'll immediately start getting hit. yah, I know, kind of dumb of me to do those things back then, but I did.

When I played brawl I never shielded, or dodged, or used smash attacks, and I only used ness ..... I've come a long way since then.

Eyyy new patch guys! More stages have been added as well as ANOTHER BALANCE PATCH. So far, I think Luigi has suffered the most. With the increased knockback on his down throw, it makes it much harder for him to combo and get any kill confirms anymore. RIP down throw-> UpB 2015-2015

Also, a masisve thing about shieldstun has basically slightly changed how the game might potentially be played in the future
