Ever heard of Microsoft Narrator? It reads everything you've typed onto the screen right back to you. And don't you think blind people would have certain advances to help them get by in life, such as brail keyboards and whatnot? It's their eyes that don't work, not their whole damn body.

Hearing aids are for the hard of hearing, not deaf.

I hope they advance the technology so you could hear even when your deaf through the hearing aids. The impulse of the sound will go through the transmitter and transform it so the brain could read it and you could hear the sound.
