A full moon rested in the sky like a dark impersonation of the sun, flooding the world with its dark rays. It shed a small amount of light on a run-down building that seemed to steal the rays as soon as they reached it.
The building sat alone in a forest clearing, tilted as though the very building itself was slouching. It must have been evicted years ago, and it appeared as though no one had been there for years after that. But looks can be deceiving.
Out of the dense trees surrounding the locale two eyes like blood examined the scenery. The eyes darted back and forth, as if searching for another being among the building. The eyes, finding no one, stepped out into the clearing the rest of the figure being revealed by the moon’s cold gaze. The figure obviously humanoid in design, was not to be that easily recognized as a person. With nine feet of height he would tower over any normal human. His thin body was covered in scars, and his pale skin was exposed through his ripped up t-shirt. He stood confident, almost arrogantly as if nothing in the world could bring him down. He had the appearance of one from the far east, but seemed to emit a feeling of destruction like the world had yet seen.
The figure ran a boney hand through his raven black hair and smirked.
“And I thought there were supposed to be others.”, he chastised himself with his obvious american drawl and age of 19, “Just another fake group of people that are supposed to be ‘different’.”
The young man had been there to investigate the group known as the night creatures to inquire of them his admittance. Word had had it in the city that they could be found here, but the building was nothing as he had hoped. He turned on his heel and began to walk away, when he almost tripped over a boy half his size.
“Where did you come from?”, the young man said with shock and anger, “And whoever you are get out of my way!”.
“Have you come to join?”,the boy asked with a grin on his face.
“Look kid I’m not in the mood for any- wait join what?”, The tall one asked in confusion.
“Why join the night creatures, everyone who comes here does.”,replied the boy.
“How did you know that I-”, the tall one questioned.
“I already told you.”,the boy said with a sigh,”everyone who comes here wants to join.”
Hm...maybe this kid does know something, The elder thought, Maybe he can show me how to find them.
“Alright kid, I’ll join. But only if you’ll show me where the night creatures live.”, said the taller boy with a smirk.
“We live right here!”,said the boy pointing to the shack.
The taller one burst out laughing, a deep somewhat gravelly bellow from the bottom of his lungs.
“Let me get this straight, you and the ‘night creatures’ live here! In this shack! Kid don’t make me laugh harder than I already am!”, let out the amused young man between his great bellows, “go home and tell your little club that I’ll be joining, as soon as cats can talk!”
The boy looked as if he were going to storm off in anger.
“I don’t know why you don’t believe me, and in all this time you still haven’t noticed.”
“Hey kid I’m sorry”, The taller one began “I don’t mean to be a jerk, but I think it’s best for you not to get your hopes up. Cats can’t talk, the night creatures is some kind of game you play with your friends, I don’t know what I was supposed to notice other than the fact that you can’t seem to use your ears-”
For the first time the taller boy seemed to see what he had failed to see before. Looking down at the boy he caught sight of the ears the boy possessed. They were like that of a feline’s, and when the taller boy looked into his eyes of green, he had no doubt that this boy was “different”.
“You really are a cat.”,said the taller boy with shock,”I had heard rumors, but I never really believed that-”
“That there could be others out there like you.”, retorted the boy, ”In any case you do want to join correct?”
The taller boy could only nod.
“Well then, I am the leader Leoncio, If you are going to join you should at least introduce yourself.”
“My name is Kai, Kai Havoc”,said the taller boy regaining his vigor,”And I am ready to join.”
“Well then Kai, let me show you the ropes.”,said the smaller boy starting in the direction of the building.
I wonder what other surprises wait in that building, Kai thought to himself, In any case I won’t find out here.
And with that, he jumped twenty feet to the doors and followed the cat boy into the depths.
