Pretty much. This is a great way to learn about the competitive side of SE, whether you're new or old. If you want to step up your game or demonstrate how powerful it is, there's no better opportunity!

I don't see why completely new players should be allowed though.

Maybe set a boundary of 1800+. For the generic players still learning even though they got the basics down.

This is an open qualifier bracket. I don't see why an arbitrary boundary is needed.

Last time a couple matches got held up because a new player didn't know how to add people.

I don't want random 1200s; I want people who are informed on the game to play, not just dragged along by following a link. I meant, don't restrict an arbitrary rating boundary. Two different things.

Well I think it's pretty safe to say that informed people will be at least above 1300-1400

That seems fairly reasonable to me.

Why not? How else do you expect new people to get interested if they're barred?

No. They'll never get a chance to see higher level play. I honestly encourage new players to show them areas to improve. It's best for growth.

For like 5 minutes, and then he was dq'd. You make it sound like a tragedy.

The championship bracket will be enlisting only top players, but there is an open bracket to follow. Better make it if playing newbies is so much trouble to you guys.

Maybe it would encourage them to stop idling in the global chat and get to a certain rank so they can prove themselves? We shouldn't waste our own times when they clearly aren't putting in any of theirs.

I'm not gonna judge that. Some people do things for fun too.

So do we keep doing these tourneys until the very last one, where that's the last time participants can rack up points?

Except we are representing too much 1.5ks and below.

That's true, I was in this tourney, and I was 1.4k.

the 3 year anniversary will be the last tournament for reward points, thus the last opportunity to enter the pro bracket.

Doesn't matter, you are still welcome to participate. This is all about learning and having fun, as well as kicking up the competitive level.
