Are you ready to Fire it Up?
Summer may be over, but we're turning on the heat this winter! This may not be livestreamed (from yours truly, anyway), but you can expect my full attention to the results and progression of the bracket, as well as my own participation. This will take place at least two EDT Saturday nights every month.
Now to what I really want to talk about, and that's the reward points. A lot of you don't believe their worth anything, so I'm going to explain in great length why you want them. These points are going to be used for more than just seeding in the future. They are your ticket to enter the the championship bracket coming in the early winter/spring. This will be something I will make sure to not only reward players, but give a great view to the public with a streaming experience. The date for the championship is currently set for February 6th, 10:00 AM.
But why are Reward Points needed for this? You need to have them to play in the championship bracket. You're not spending the points, your total only accumulates the more you play, but you will need a fixed number to qualify for the twelve man championship bracket. The championship bracket is different from the open bracket, because it puts you much farther ahead than anyone else entering. In the championship bracket, there will two pools with players who were seeded from having a qualifier victory. This leaves three open spots to be decided by the following players who have the most Reward Points, still earned from attending qualifiers. Qualifiers are large-scale tournaments which will be recognized prior to happening. DAZ's world circuit is something I'd like to include as a qualifier should it start back up. However, right now there are no other qualifier events. This means the small bi-weekly tourneys are your only ticket into this championship bracket. I can't be the one to change this. If anyone else has a good head on their shoulders and is thinking about organizing an event with the current professional rule set illustrated in my tournaments, then please talk to me so I can count you in.
For anyone who doesn't win, don't fret. Right now, there
You may notice that some events have more/less Reward Points than others.
To enter the championship bracket, you need to win a qualifier, or be one of three with the next highest amount of reward points.
-How to Join-
Join the swift IRC channel #team-zenith and give the details of your SE name, code, and starting empire to me, WyzDM. Be there within 15 minutes of the event start up time. It's that simple!
-Game Rules-
- Depending on number of participants, players will be split pools. Top two players from each pool advance into a double elimination bracket.
- All games are best of 3, with the exception of finals being best of 5. If it's a 5k point event, or pools are run, semis are also Bo5.
- Your starting empire should be the same every first round. Message me your code and empire when signing up.
- Random is allowed as an empire selection.
- Your first game is played on Forest. Game two and three, loser picks from Forest, Ice Lands, Gates, or Desert.
- After map is picked for games two and three, winner is allowed to change empire. The loser is then allowed to change empire.
- Any game must be decided within 12 minutes. After the game timer hits 12 minutes, the player with tower control wins the game.
- If the opposing player is lagging, and the game is moving abnormally slow to the point where it is uncomfortable, take a screenshot or record it before reporting it to a TO. Please do not abuse lag reports!
- Pausing for any reason during a game will result in a forfeit if elected by your opponent. Even if there are technical difficulties, it's up to your opponent to allow that. Plan in advance and test your hardware/software!
- It is not against the rules to talk to your opponent, but keep it clean. Any vulgar language or obscenities will not be tolerated, and you will be DQ'd.
- If anything your opponent does is questionable, you may take a snapshot of it to provide proof of any illegal play, and upload it to an image sharing site before addressing it to a TO. Abuse of this system, however, will cause for DQ on holding up the match.
- Wait for bracket announcements within the IRC channel #team-zenith. If you are unfamiliar with what an IRC is, I suggest reading this to help you out.
- During the bracket hours, you are required to remain ready and attentive for when it's your turn to play a tournament match.
- PLAYING ANY FRIENDLIES OR RANKED GAMES DURING THE TOURNAMENT OUTSIDE OF BREAK TIME IS IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION.
- After a match, you are required to save your replay link. Give all replays of the set to a TO at once, not link by link. To make things easier, consider using a notepad document or pastebin to assist you.
-Gameplay Rules and Banned Glitches/Exploits-
Here's a list of known bugs or problems we don't want to witness happen in game. If anyone is to be found abusing such methods, consequence and potentially disqualification will occur.
Please refrain from:
- Running bombers under the bottom of the map to avoid castle archers. It's okay if crawlers are used as a deterrent.
- Using archidons to hit beyond the range of castle archers (or taking advantage of CA's lag). This is for castle dead or castle archer. Swords can be used as deterrent.
- Positioning ranged units on the bottom of the map to avoid being hit by other ranged units. This is a serious bug that while hard to do, can be set up, and is not allowed.
- Positioning air units on the nearest side/bottom of the map and behind castle archer to avoid being hit.
- Charrog rejumping or using cycloid double tornado.
- spawning trees near the bottom or top of the map to cause the scorpions to walk outside of the map (and remain mostly impervious).
These are just to name a few of the most popular tricks. Please don't show off any new ones.

F.A.Q.S
Who are the Tournament Organizers?
DAZ, Galeforce, Rain, Spino, and myself.
What's an IRC channel?
Unfamiliar with IRC? You can join using the webbased page, or on our Team Zenith website.
More help on the IRC can be found here.
Can someone else use my account?
If you're going to be a loud mouth about it, my answer is NO. It's not my rules I'm enforcing, but the game's rules. Seriously, was that incident with NrgFA that long ago where no one remembers?
The event is at a bad time for me. Why can't we play matches over the week?
I was hoping I wouldn't have to explain this, but I guess it can't be helped. Every other time (yes, I mean every other time) this was set up, it's failed. Players in opposite timezones will still not be able to compete against each other, as it's just basically a week of "Oh hey I didn't see you." No wonder, you're both sleeping when the other player's awake. And when they finally do get paired if at all, you're delayed the whole progress for everyone. And it's not just one incident, it's gonna happen for everybody. I'm not wasting my time to this "leisure" of playing when you want to. Register, show up, and be there. Maybe next time I can get it on a Saturday. This time, it's on a Sunday. Take time off from school or work if you need to. That's what I'm doing. It's on one day in advance to give time for accommodations. I will not host another day by day event EVER AGAIN. It was so bad I wrote this painfully long paragraph about it. Please don't ask me anymore.
Can my starting empire be random?
Yes it can.
Is there an entrant cap or rating limit?
No. If you're there on time and ready to play, you're entered!
Get ready to get fired up!
