Currently, I'm a student, but I've already decided that I'll be doing things related to cooking for a living. Though I want to actually cook myself, I may end up going more into management as time goes on. Keep primarily at what you like as long as you can, ya know? I work as a temp for a hospitality company, and I'm currently working for Delaware North Companies in the Panthers Stadium here in Charlotte.
I've actually not worked any "real" jobs before. I used to make these little comics when I was a kid that I sold, called "The Adventures of Banana Boy and his Sidekick Nutty," and a few years later, I also self-published a short series (3 books, around 200 pages each) that I managed to sell to classmates. I don't remember the name of it, but I do remember what it was about. Looking at it now, it was super cliche, and I only sold them because my friends were still as unused to cliches as I was.
As I previously mentioned, I want to keep cooking. While I'm hoping to one day own my own restaurant, I don't expect to make it there quickly. Hard work under others, learning the ins and outs of the business will hopefully give me the insight and actual funds needed to successfully own one.
I'm hoping to earn around $65K - $80K annually, which is really wishful thinking, I know, but if you don't dream big, then what's going to push you to make those decisions that can actually make those dreams a reality? Set small goals for yourself, and work up to a big dream. Sometimes, I think I should aim higher, something impossible, so that I can always push myself forward towards that unattainable goal, and when I'm on my deathbed, I can look back at what I did achieve and feel nothing but pride in myself.
