I'm pretty sure everyone has heard of it one way or another; they're coming up with an implementation for a Dislike Button on Facebook. What are your thoughts on that, and while we're at it what other changes would you have liked to see?
This doesn't have to be restricted to Facebook. Any social media will do as well. Maybe you feel like Twitter needs to extend its word count. Share your opinions on social media use.

I've wanted a dislike button for so long, yes please

I've been on youtube long enough to know how this will end. I fear it'll be used to barrage controversial matters with dislikes, leading to all manners of repercussions.
Then again, I never really use FB much outside of communication so I probably won't have to deal with it at all.

I don't have a Facebook and haven't had one for years, but it's good to see they've put a dislike button in. Because if you have a rating system of any kind you need to include both positive and negative choices. To me, just having a like button is like saying "I only want to hear your opinions if you always agree with me."

yeah, maybe now when people post dumb ass shit and see how many people think it's retarded they'll realize how much of a cunt they are and fix it.
I'm going to go back and dislike so many things.

I do feel as if it adds a bit of diversity on what you think on the topic without posting a comment to say that you despise the post.
It is kind of weird to press like on someone's funeral.

So they are making a new way for people to get depressed?! No thanks, tumblr is enough.

It might take some time for people to adjust to getting their comments disliked, but I'm sure people will eventually start liking it.

Yay here.
It's about time FaceBook implemented this. For a social site that deals with and has opinions and comments as its core drive, it was pretty uncomfortable that there wasn't a signal to give off your view that you disliked seeing/hearing a certain thing. Although, it might bring up problems like trolls disliking just for the fun of it but really, that's unavoidable and it's not really a big deal.

I think it's an understandable idea and a reasonable approach considering the fact that they have a like button. I also think it should have happened a while ago to balance out the whole 'like' thing (Cuz who wants to press like on a depressing thing?), although I feel like it'll lead to a bunch more problems. There will be so much passive aggressive action of people who don't like each other disliking one another's posts just for shits and giggles. Also, as Zero mentioned, trolls just disliking things for the fun of it. Controversial topics will also be some sort of issue.
Even with the cons, I still believe the pros are outweighed exponentially, and it's a rather good idea.

Although I barely use FB, I'm glad this is being implemented.

I don't think it's going to matter much. There's no poll option for that though. I seriously doubt it's going to be what you guys seem to think it is going to be. This topic hinges on it's assumed function, but the Zuckerpunch has always said that he has been against a dislike button because it would cause rampant negativity (and judging by the posts here he's probably right) so I can't see it being set up in that way. I've read that this feature is going to be implemented in a way to express sympathy where "liking" a post would be inappropriate. The exact details haven't been released so I'm speculating, but I seriously doubt it's going to be the same thing as what YouTube or Reddit has. I could be wrong though.
