Mantha, what are your thoughts on the stuff that has been discussed so far?

I'm trying to get everyone to talk and share their opinions on the strategies and suggestions laid out so far because the Loki IS going to hide under the "let me just do my thing and lay low guys, you sort it all out" defense and the Skree, if they want to win the game, are going to avert good ideas and suggest flaky ones. So its better for the Avengers if we all talk and analyze and strategize so that we have more to draw upon and can find consistencies and inconsistences in people's characters and allegiances.

Well like I said, this is my first time playing so my opinions aren't quite as useful as yours or Exile's.

I'll mull over the strategies when I wake up since I've had too much red wine to go all Alexander the Great.

@Boomerang: that's why I got the scans, man

Jesus, I thought Hew meant one time a night.

Then we'll have to do it one time. She needs to scan Colson. If Colson is clean, then we need to protect him while he goes knocking on doors one by one. Does that work?

Mantha/Quicksilver can run around meantime and see who visits Colson if they try to go after him.

Those with protection powers can take turns protecting Exilement. Meanwhie, Agent Coulson could hang out with people one-by-one so we have a possible Skrull detection. Of course, this would be moot if one of these people are Skrull themselves (though thats going to be the case with any plan in a Mafia game), but it might be a start. If anyone can see a loophole here apart from the obvious one I mentioned, please let me know.

"Reputation - You believe in what comes natural to you and will never succumb or be a target of certain intrusive abilities both good and bad. "
Hew, clarification on this?

And Exile, I see where you're coming from. I just want our best bet of winning to stay alive.

You're telling me that your statement that "Captain America can't be protected" comes out of that?

What if Scarlet Witch is evil? The worst case scenario? Where she simply bluff the result if Coulson's the villain?

EDIT: Yes, Nish. From what I interpret, Captain America is unaffected by anything like Scarlet Witch. Except kills. And maybe the tools.

EDITED: Oh, Cap is unaffected by Bolts and Hawkeye only. Should we pay attention to Thor with Bolts, who can easily put a stop to at least one person at night?

Hewwy, we are informed whether or not our actions are blocked, right?

We're operating under the assumption that its highly unlikely that BOTH our detectors, Witch and Colson are Skree. If thats the case, the odds are severely against us anyway. If she says that Colson is evil, we lynch Colson. If his corpse turns out to not be a Skree (which I'm assuming it would, like Rabbit Doubt. Hewitt please clarify) then we lynch her. A trade is always good for the Avengers. One good guy for one bad guy, since we outnumber them.

Can't remember Rabbit Doubt but yes, roles are confirmed upon death.

I think the ideal scenario for a first night is Dr Strange using his time-delay ability thing on me so I'm guaranteed to survive the first night even if I am targeted. If I don't survive, then Dr Strange is confirmed anti-town and should be lynched Day 2.

I'm going to give certain players instructions for Night 1, and they will give me the results on Day 2. If something doesn't add up I should be able to identify who failed to do what and we can go from there. If everything works out fine, then we have a confirmed group of townies who I can bring together before I'm killed. I don't know which specific sequence of night actions will reveal this kind of information yet but when I have more time I'll sit down and figure out a plan. If anyone has suggestions PM them to me rather than posting them here so we can keep the anti-town players from interfering with it.

But the Loki-instadeath can go through everything, except the Dr. Strange time thing which delays it.

So even with the other instructions, the Loki could make someone seem guilty even when they're not by instakilling you when they were supposed to protect you. Hewitt said he would make Skrull kills and Loki kills look identical in every manner.

BUT in case the Loki took the insta-death option, that means he doesn't have the illusion power, which means our spies should be able to spot him.

Quicksilver should constantly keep an eye out on Captain America so you can see who comes to get him. One other person can use their powers on quicksilver, and the chain goes on.

You're right Exile, this is better by PM even if some of the stuff will go hidden from the game's fun. Its best if you give instructions by PM so that the Skree have no choice but to obey.

People, please do NOT share the instructions that Exilebum gives you to ANYONE. A large part of the plan hinges on neither the Skree nor Loki knowing who was given what instructions and being kept neutralized.

When we keep talking about protection, what are we referring to? There's the shield from Mr Fantastic and... that's about all there is. Invisible Woman doesn't protect from kills.

Even if a player I give instructions to dies I'll still have a log of what should have happened and the end-result will still be predictable. Ideally. Again I'm not sure if this is feasible with the current roster of abilities we're working with, it may only be possible with a couple of people and not worth the effort. If I could coordinate everyone's actions and still be able to keep track of the end-result that would be ideal but that could get messy quick.

Quicksilver only learns who their target visited during the night, not who visited them.

Then Quicksilver should do random visits and tell us exact reports. That way we can measure discrepancies.

As for defending you, Falcon can switch you with someone else. It won't save you from Loki's insta-kill but it will save you for another kill action. He can switch you once with Iron Man, and on alternating nights with Hulk. It'll be effective against everything except Loki's insta-kill.

Edit: Mr. Fantastic can also give you stasis pod and the surfer's board. Those should technically help you survive longer.

Unless Loki/skree decides to chip away at Iron Man on the first night and suddenly I'm dead. Switching adds an element of randomness that I'd rather not fuck around with this early in the game if the goal is my survival. Dr Strange's protection is more than enough to protect me for the first night and ideally that will be all the time I need to outlive my usefulness, if that protection fails then it's guaranteed Dr Strange is anti-town and my death is a tradeoff for a confirmed anti-town lynch on Day 2, it's a win win.

Ok, if you feel thats best. I agree that Dr. Strange is the best option, but it doesn't SAVE you either. So right now, we're telling everyone that you are going into the Negative Zone, and they can kill you albeit delayed by a day.

But even this paranoia on my part is assuming that the Skree are stupid enough to kill someone who poses no threat while Loki is lurking out there.

Exactly, if we're up against anything resembling competency then they'll probably spend their nightkill doing something that will actually benefit them. I'm 100% fine with delaying my death by a day if it means someone else gets to live and I still get to carry out this plan.

edit: since Hew's online, what exactly is the usefulness of Invisible Woman?

Any action that blocks and/or redirects the target's actions will be nullified.

Loki and the Skrull have no blocking or redirecting abilities so why would we need protection from something like this? How does it benefit the town to have one townie nullify another townie's ability?

This is post-game theorizing but for the benefit of the new players in this game, willing ones such as Mantha for example, I'd like to explain the significance of Capt. America. Since everyone knows he's clear, everyone can opt to report their actions and results to him every Day. As to why doesnt the bad guys just kill him outright? 1) It's a waste of a Night killing more powerful Roles, 2) All Cap really has is allegiances now that roles are open, 3) The best kind of good guy alive for the bad guys are the good guys that know nothing so its a risk vs reward kind of thing where they have to keep a clueless Cap by killing off more significant parties.

Not necessarily lol. The Coulson player could just announce who he intends to visit every night. Course at that point he could get Blocked or Redirected so...

Mr Fantastic can give me a shield one time but beyond that we don't have a doctor role in this game and I'm not sure it's in our best interests to use a one-time protection ability on me in the first round. That's something we could discuss I suppose.

The Doctor role in this game is Dr. Strange. It's just he's very nerfed. Instead of a lifesaver, he's a kill-delayer.

Note to Loki: If you choose the camoflauge ability, you won't be able to kill us instantly. If you choose the Instakill ability, we will find who you are eventually. Which one are you going to pick, asshole?

You do realize that the Loki player has until the start of Night 1 to decide his ability right? Taunting him now would be a very bad idea as he still has free pickings.

That is, if he already has chosen. I'm not gonna say if he has lol. Just that he might have not.

Quote from Xate

All investigative roles will be informed if they are blocked. And even at that, they will only receive the message No Result which is the same message as if their target was missing. Roles that don't return any result will NOT be informed that their ability is blocked.

Whaddya mean 'like' Rabbit Doubt? If you mean the allegiance and role is revealed upon death then yes. But flavor will not discriminate between any kind of kill.

And are you sure you wanna use up that one-shot Cop move?

You ever think that maybe the Doctor or Falcon could be Skrull? That's what Invisible Woman is for. Maybe the Skrull will do something like this:

>Postulate that Nish might be Skrull. Convinces town to get Quicksilver to investigate him (as Witch is one-shot) later
>At Night, Non-Falcon Skrull kills Mantha.
>Skrull Falcon switches the above Skrull and Nish
> Quicksilver spies on Nish but really spies the Non-Falcon Skrull...gets a result that "Nish" visited Mantha
> Next Morning, Mantha is dead. Quicksilver reports that Nish visited Mantha
> Lynch Nish.

Or this.

>Postulates that Nish is innocent (but actually he's Skrull). Witch is convinced and will use ability.
>Skrull Falcon redirects Nish with someoen who isn't Skrull
>Witch "sees" that Nish is an Avenger
>Witch trusts Nish for the whole game

Or this.

>Postulate that Xate, the Coulson is innocent. Convinces town to get Quicksilver to visit him at night.
>Non-Skrull-Doctor Xate kills Mantha
>Skrull Doctor 'protects' Mantha
> Quicksilver sees that Xate visited Mantha
> Next morning, Mantha is alive. Quicksilver reports what he saw. Xate confirms he isn't skrull and postulates that maybe Loki didn't kill N2.
> After N3, Mantha dies, none the wiser.

Invisible Woman protects against the redirecting action of a Skrull Falcon, the Kill-Delaying action of a Skrull Doctor, or a hiding attempt by a Skrull Ant-Man.

SO. With all that said and done, I believe we can now BEGIN!

Day ONE

The Avengers have gathered here today to discern which one of them ought to be put in cryostasis. Nobody protests...but nobody is talking either. Hopefully they can get something done and learn a few things before the day is over.

There are 14 of you. It takes 8 to lynch.

Mechanics:
- Day lasts until Nov. 18, 2015 or 12 hours after the very last post of anything after the hammering vote (the deciding vote of a lynchee)

- You may lynch someone by posting #vote IN BOLD. If you don't bold I won't count it.

- If the final required vote is made, the countdown will start and the Day could end prematurely. Watch out!

- You may retract your answer by posting #unvote in BOLD. If you don't bold I won't count it.

- It is possible to lynch no one. Post #NoLynch in BOLD. Decision must be majority though.

- I will update the thread from time to time and post links from the frontpage for archiving purposes.

Begin! And Good Luck.

For now, we have no information or anything really to go on. Let the night come and we can discuss what happens.
