I would say that I exercised prudence before I full-on believed that Error was innocent. His defense was really convincing at the time, and there were more people that I felt warranted more suspicion than him. I'm not trying to make excuses, I was completely fooled and that probably was a factor in the SK win, but it's just one among a lot of things that caused our loss.

Error played really well and I don't think I trusted him too easily. He shared ALL of Arch's PMs, gave me the armor, and I really did underestimate him.


Also, honestly, the first time I encountered the term "Random Lynch Phase" was after I died and Hewitt linked me to mafiascum where I read some games and literally all of them starts with players voting for people over the dumbest shit and they actually had a name for it. Hewitt has always talked about how it's a good thing to randomly vote at day 1, but I really only took it as an advice to not be afraid of voting and use it to pressure certain people instead of actually randomly voting and that it was an actual thing. I really never imagined it was actually a concept that had a name and was a normal practice in most mafia games.

In short, mafia games should always start with a random lynch phase.

I was foolishly excited enough to run these games without telling people about the RVS, like I suddenly expected them to do it because I thought it was a natural thing. The reason why I, in all my 2 years running Maf here, never linked these articles was because I was pretty sure people would just skim the tl;dr and play. It was a different time back then; attention spans were tiny and linking this straight away wouldn't have done shit. But now that you've seen and experienced how crap feels like, I'm going to take a chance and attempt to educate you on the ways of deception.
