I laughed so hard when I discovered that on the trash can.
I used to go there the times mods posted witty comments before binning a thread Lol

Quote from Exilepretty much every single year someone tries to start the awards before I get a chance to do so and last year was one of the worst examples of this, I more or less assumed someone else would deal with it yet no one has done so. I can't remember who organized it last year but apparently they're not planning on doing it again and I'm not particularly interested in doing it anymore.
Wasnt it Rosie or azure?
Anyways, there was something fundamentally wrong with that contest. I couldn't describe it. It was too focused on a single winner in a sea of awesomeness for one, and the award categories were traditionally ancient. It's like every year had become a copypasta for the sake of existing.
Kudos for just letting it die. We have to think of a new year-ender event if applicable

Nobody's going to get it unless you write. But essentially Sacred, Me, and several users pwn a user for his pretentious prattling.
Anyways, keep the threads coming. Will update soon.

It was more of a popularity contest than anything.

that's exactly what it was, a simple popularity contest and nothing more. plenty of people loved it and hewitt's literally the first person to actively dislike and complain about it in all the years I've run it so what can I tell you.

HAHAHAHA Oh my god that's so cruel
OH and Hewitt, I'm not saying this to defend RichardLongFlop or anything, just because I know where that phrase comes from:
I think the "When all is X, nothing is X" comes from "If everything is art, then nothing is art".
I heard it many times while listening to people arguing about art, where one side said that there shouldn't be any kind of judgement for it, and everything made by a person, if this person considers it as art, then it IS art.
The counter-argument for this was that phrase: "If everything is art, then nothing is art", meaning that the concept of "art" would lose its meaning if everything is "art"
it doesn't applies to what he was talking about, of course lol

It was a fun tradition while it lasted. Maybe SP changed that much, I don't know.

I'm actually only complaining about the fact that there is only ever 1 thread that wins every year. Amongst a bazillion choices. And since the attention span of the forum is too small, they would probably nominate something recent as well. Overall, I would love to see the SP Awards event get tweaked as it is very ancient, but there's no loss in putting down such an archaic system as well
And the reason I think nobody complains about it is that they just don't care enough. That, and it's kind of an administrative thing, so why would people complain about something the Mods made? I'm not saying they can't but there's that stigma going for it

Exile wasn't always a mod, and he was still the one doing it.
And I don't know what it's like here nowadays but if there was something to complain about, people complained A LOT. Especially of it was agains mods. Hell, they even rallied up a petition for the Bandar one day, even if a Bandar would mean extra work for the mods.
Sp awards only had one thread award because it was mostly about the members. I don't know what would be the proper way to get recognition for just about everything tbh. Maybe a memoir of some sort, a combo of "highlights" and the "let's talk about" thread. Who knows.

What's a Bandar?

List of people who got banned and why.
Needless to say, I curbstomped that petition by banning everyone on it while pretending to be hacked by Jeremy. There's your Bandar, lmao.
