Just some random poll I thought of.
Also, I used the wikipedia for reference.

I like games in general, except RPGs. If you hate me for saying this, it's because... WHO WOULD TAKE TURNS FIGHTING IN REAL LIFE?
It's not like in a real fight, I'm going to throw a punch, then wait for my opponent to throw his punch, then throw my punch once he's done. It gets kind of annoying after a while, but Pokemon and a few other RPG games are okay I guess. And I may or may not only like Pokemon because Nintendo was a big part of my childhood.

I'm surprised you had the decency to put Adventure games.

What do you exactly expect from me?

Fighting games. The depth makes it really fun to get to a high skill level and just sitting down and playing with others can be really enjoyable.

All types of action and adventure games. :D
I don't like grinding, so minimal of that.
*EDIT* Story is a must, unless it has great gameplay.

I really like brawlers with rpg elements. Or sandboxes with action and rpg elements. Or some very specific strategy games. Point and click games are also pretty fun.
You might think that I'm open to almost all genres but in fact, I'm extremely picky. Just like with music, I don't exactly like specific genres but when I find a game that I fancy, sometimes despite the genre, then I play it. I can't really explain my reasons, either because they are complex or because I myself don't know about them.
So I'll say which genres I don't really like. MMORPGs, turn base strategies, puzzles, rythm games and finally survival horror. Of course there might be exceptions due to my erratic playing requirments.

I can't believe nobody picked RPGs. I'd expect it to be the most popular, considering how successful most end up to be. Games like Runescape, although, unsurprisingly, I liked the older version better, it is still a good game, adapting to newer players, Minecraft, Terraria, Skyirm, more recently, Undertale, POKéMON, Legend of Zelda and many other successful games.

But RPGs are generally fads. They are popular for about 1-3 months, then die, never to be heard of again.

Pokemon, Minecraft, Legend of Zelda, and lots of other RPGs don't die that fast, pal.

GENERALLY fads. And not all Zelda games are RPGs. Ocarina of Time was a very successful game and it was not an RPG.

1. You can apply this to literally all genres. All genres have fads and to say they don't is disingenuous. Fads is sort of a misnomer anyway, as fad implies that it's a game that hasn't deserved the popularity in the first place. Most RPGs live through healthy life cycles that extend for pretty lengthy periods of time. Maybe they just seem like fads since there are more popular new RPGs that come out more than other genres. I'd challenge you to give me at least five well-known examples of RPGs that were fads. JRPGs are the only RPGs that live through short life spans, but that's also mostly because they often don't resonate with western audiences that much. The ones that do (Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Tales of, Shin Megami) all have had long life spans and often many sequels.
2. Ocarina of Time not being an RPG is debatable since it shares a lot of classic elements of one. Ocarina of Time added very few combat mechanics compared to its predecessors, and that's really the only element I can feasibly see someone call OoT not an RPG. In Wind Waker I can see the argument since it adds many combat related features, but even then you could still call it an RPG.
3. He listed a lot of games and omitted tons more. Making the claim that they are GENERALLY fads isn't really true.

Well, to me fads are not things that don't deserve their popularity in the first place. Anyways, coming to think about it, I suppose you're right about RPGs just seeming like fads since there are more popular new RPGs that come out eventually.

Yandere sim is the best sim game I've ever played.
