Thought this was neat, and I didn't see anything about it on stickpage after searching for a bit.
While it's not available yet, apparently the animation software that Studio Ghibli uses is going open-source within a week, on March 26th.
EDIT: Here's a better article I found
This is kind of a big deal, as it means their software will basically be free, and directly helps the fellows who, for whatever reason, would be unable to buy it. (hint hint, this entire community.)
It's ALSO a big deal because other software such as TvPaint, Toonboom, Anime studio etc etc now have a pretty serious competitor. (Assuming of course, it actually is the full-fledged software or at least is relatively close to that level.)
For those who want to know a bit about how it works:
And the github page. (The english version) The software can be downloaded here.
So, how does this make you all feel? Thoughts?
EDIT: I'm blind. The software has been used in a couple of english animations, so there's no reason for it to not be translated already.
