"Glad to see we're getting somewhere." The captain turned around. "Unfortunately your gear is with an associate, you can understand my lack of enthusiasm to carry such a heavy tool around. So if you would simply follow me." And without further ado, the door was opened and the captain walked out, with Kyle following him. A few soldiers followed but the rest simply parted as to let the four through. As the group was ushered out, they looked out at a fully primed military compound. It sat at the foot of a mountain city that looked similar to the city they had just been at. As the squad walked, soldiers would stop what they were doing to salute until they passed before continuing what they were doing. They walked out the main gates and he gestured for them to get onto a truck. Him and Kyle sat up front while the rest got into the back. They drove for a while, with no noise but the engine. Then they began hearing explosions and gunfire but couldn't see where it was coming from because of the lack of windows. Soon the truck slowed to a halt and they all got out. In the distance they could see a warehouse that was the source of all the noise. "My associate is an... unorthodox one, but his talent in gunsmithery is unparalleled." The guards stopped following and they simply watched the group continue to the warehouse.
The explosions and gunfire was becoming raucous and would give any sensible man a headache but the captain and Kyle seemed unfazed by the noise. "Oz!" The captain shouted, "Oz!" The gunfire didn't stop but the door opened and a robot steward floated out. It looked exactly like the shopkeeper Matthew dealt with.
"Aah, Captain Roy. Are you here about the cross? Master Oz has given up on opening it."
"No no Wirston, we're here to return it to its owner." The captain gestured to Dino and the steward turned around and entered the establishment, and the captain followed closely behind, Kyle standing by the door instead of entering.
They walked inside to see the robot hover down a hallway into the further of two doors. This gave the group the time to observe the interior of the shop. It was a wreckage of guns and ammunition. They were sitting on racks, on top of tables, and hanging off hooks. There were sear marks and bullet holes lining the walls and support beams. Dino in particular saw his cross laying on top of a table. Their observation was cut short by the suddenly silence that fell upon the shop and they watched the door open and the robot come out. Behind him was a boy, shorter than Kyle, with spiky platinum blond hair and grease and oil smeared on his face and clothing. He's wearing a pair of black jeans, with a belt of grenades running around his right leg. His left pant leg is cut at the knee because the rest is replaced by a prosthetic that looks to be a sword. His clothing was a long sleeve shirt and over it a ballistic kevlar vest. Clutched in his hand was a frag grenade and he pulled the pin and chucked it inside the room before slamming it shut. He walked towards them and tossed the pin into a large glass jar that was full of similar pins.
"Captain Roy, didn't Wirston tell you? Can't open the damn cross." He snapped his fingers at Wirston. "Make me a cup of coffee." And the steward flew into the first door. "Who're these guys? Customers?"
"We are willing to share what we have, but nothing more than army rations I'm afraid. We planned on restocking tonight." Samuel explained.
"Have a rendezvous with a trader. He's gonna give us guns and other supplies that we need to make the trip." Marc finished up.
"But back to your questions Miss..." Samuel paused then continued, "Any fee you wish for can be paid once we reach my country. I'm afraid the only thing we can offer you now is board and some food. The destination is not too far from here, about a day or so march. However we are dealing with a task force that are bent on killing me, because if I die, then talk of alliance falls through and the civil war will continue down the bloody and self destructive course it is going."
Suddenly time stopped and Abra appeared before the two groups. "Alright I think right now is a good time to stop and go over what you will be accomplishing. As you can see, you guys have been split up, oh the horror amirite?" Abra clapped his hands over his cheeks and spun in the air dramatically. "But don't worry, you will be reunited soon, just on different sides of this war. Now lookee here." Abra clapped and each group can see their respective side and those they were with get a faint blue outline. "These people are your teammates. Now this is pertenant because I did something special and turned off friendly fire. You cannot hurt your teammates, even if you tried. See look." Abra pulled out a knife and stabbed at Samuel and Roy but his blade went straight through. "Nifty right?"
"Now then, it's obvious what the outline of your enemies will be right? Those guys you can kill, go wild. Now what's the objective of this game? Well you have to kill the captains." He snapped his fingers and Samuel and Marc got a golden crown on his head as did Captain Roy and Kyle. "Rules are simple, protect your captains, kill their captains. Winner will get something, loser will get something. Alright have fun now." Abra waved, but just by moving his fingers. He then promptly disappeared and the time went back to normal.
