Ok so for all you experienced Youtubers out there, can you tell me what is the best screen recorder? I know I already kind of asked this question on another thread, but I'd like to know what exactly the best screen recorder is, here is what I'm looking for:
.LAG FREE
.Optional ability to select what part of the screen you want to record
.Optional ability to include both microphone and webcam
.NO LAG (did I already say that?)
So yeah, you can debate among yourselves what you guys think the best screen recorder is, and I'll probably download it for my upcoming channel, thanks.

It would probably help to list your hardware specs because that plays a big role in the grand scheme of things.
Open Broadcast Software is pretty rad. Not sure about the whole webcam shit with it.

My wife does Youtube and she uses Bandicam for PC recording. I can't remember if it was free or not though. I'll get her to come here and give you some advice tomorrow.

Bandicam is the most simplified screen recorder you can get. I mean if you want just simple recording then it's fine, but if you want something more advanced then bandicam is not an option for you.

I dont know how much functionality you need in a screen recorder. All your video editing/cropping/etc should be done in a stand-alone video editor.

Just record your monitor with a phone.

I'm really looking for something that will keep the lag away, before I used screen-cast-o-matic which caused my old computer to lag like crazy. Note my laptop is very old...

The past is probably due to insufficient hardware then. Especially if your recording something else that's hardware demanding like a game or something. You can try recording as a smaller resolution. Otherwise you might just need a better laptop.

With an old laptop you won't be able to have lag-free recording. Poppets joke suggestion might literally be the best option.
Alternatively, record your screen with your phone and THEN record your phone with your webcam for that delicious lag-free rendering

Record your phone, recording your other phone, recording your screen through a mirror, that is then being recorded via ipad.

This will be such a nice blurry mess.

Well my phone is old too so...

Arch suggested OBS, which I think is the best lightweight option here. Turn down the encoding a lot, hope for the best.

Well it's like I said in my first post, it's all reliant on the hardware he has. If he has a computer that's several years old, especially a laptop, then there's no way he's going to record quality stuff with no lag. That's just how it is.

If you have an Nvidia based GPU that's either the GTX 600 series or higher, just use Shadowplay with desktop recording enabled.
Edit: oh, your laptop is old? Then yeah, OBS would be best.
