. Name:*Dain Merek

Personality: Intelligent, laid back, slightly prideful, a little power hungry, loyal, somewhat lazy, and merciless against most of his enemies.

Appearance:
•Skin Color-Pale White.
•Hair- Light red hair of Medium, meaning his bangs hang down just above his eyes, his sideburns are above his ear lobes, and the back of his hair ends near the top of his nape(back of the neck).
•Face- Dark Green round eyes, meaning their are more of an oval shape. He hs a button nose, meaning it is relatively small and rounded, with a tip turned up slightly, but not enough to where the nostrils are visible.
•Body-Relatively slim, but athletic. 6.1 feet tall and 144 pounds.

Abilities:
•Siphon-An ability which allows him to drain someone, or something alive, taking away their energy/stamina.

•Kinetic Shield-A shield comprised of psychic energy, which allows Dain to absorb the energy of up to three attacks.

•Energy Storage-Basically after he drains energy from someone he can add it to his own, almost like he is replenishing his stamina.

•Kinetic Output-After he drains the energy from someone he can release it in the form of an electric shock, which varies in strength depending on the amount of energy released.

Limitations:
•Siphoning-Requires physical contact, it takes more time to absorb more energy, it does not work on non-living forms of energy(such as lightning or robots), and the opponent can break free.

•Kinetic Shield-It only covers a 2foot by 2foot area, in the shape of a square. It can only take up yo three standard hits(human level attacks), but could be less depending on the strength of the attacks. Once the shield is broken it can not be brought up once again for two minutes.

•Kinetic Output-Requires physical contact, releases the energy, and if he uses this with low stamina/energy it could be harmful to his body(such as muscle tearing, heart strain, ect) or even death.

About/Story:
Dain was born into a world where all life forms of human intelligence possess some sort of psychic ability, and where a structured hierarchy has been established. Basically he is from an alternate dimension, where having abilities is not irregular, but common. Depending on someone's level of power, and how many other psychics they can defeat determines the rank of the citizens within this universe. Dain is considered middle class, as he is not too weak and not extremely powerful. He desired to become what is known as a Keizer, who are considered the highest of society. These people are treated well and are respected for being the most powerful of their race. In order to become a Keizer someone must at least be a Noble(upper middle class), and then you must defeat another Keizer. As Dain was a noble, he believed he may be able to defeat a Keizer, but never thought of battling one. At least, not until one of them began giving him trouble while he was eating. It ended with Dain spitting on the Keizer, and the Keizer threatening him. Dain then challenged him to a battle, where if Dain won he would become a Keizer, but if he lost he would be punished. The battle ended quickly, as the Keizer did not wait for Dain to attack. Instead Dain's opponent tore open a portal to another world, and banished him to that world. Dain didn't have time to react and was cast out of his dimension, which counted as his punishment. He entered this new world, confused and angry, but he knew it had been his fault. He had gotten over confident and entered a battle he could not win, and now he had to live with that. Dain was not giving up though, as he had a few options to choose from. One, he could devise a way back to his world and get his revenge. Two, assimilate into this world's culture and become one of them. Three, battle the residents of this dimension to become the most powerful here. He decided that option three would be the easiest and less boring one, so he set off on his journey, and a quest for power.

Demo: Are we really going to do this, guys?" Were the words that echoed through the small alley, which was formed by a clothing store and an apartment complex. Seven men stood within the alleyway, one in the middle and the other six around him, three at his front and three behind him. The man in the middle was young, looking no older than seventeen. He had been the one who had just spoken, and stood out the most among the other six. This youth had light red hair, which had recently been cut, his sideburns stretching down just above his earlobes and his bangs hanging down over his forehead, but not covering his eyes. He had pale white skin, like he rarely exposed himself to the sun, and dark green eyes, which darted around the alley as he spoke. The male was about the same height as the other men, being 6.1 feet tall, but was far less muscular than five of them. He looked kind of thin, and ant muscle he had was hidden beneath his clothes. The boy wore a while hoodie with a neon blue power symbol on it, like the kind you see on computer power buttons. He also wore what looked like newly purchased blue jeans, and gray tennis shoes. This male's name was Dain Merek, and he had just acquired some clothes he found suitable, only to be cornered in an alley by six thugs.

The men surrounding him were your stereotypical punks, wearing things like sideways caps, vests, leather jackets, T-shirts with stupid saying on them(like "I'm with stupid" and such), worn out blue jeans, and generic Walmart brand shoes. Well, at least five of them looked that way, one stood out from the rest. This was in front of Dain, standing between two of the other thugs, who wore the outfits just described. This man however, was tall and dark skinned, with bulging muscles which made him look somewhat intimidating. He had brown eyes so dark they almost appeared black, which made him look even more dangerous. Although all of the stuff that made him scary looking was nullified by his shirt, which had a cat with sunglasses and a rainbow background on it. Along with this odd shirt her wore tan cargo shorts and green light up sneakers. Still, despite his odd and almost childish wardrobe the man looked proud and unashamed. The last thing that separated him from the others was the fact that he had no weapon, while the others had crowbars and baseball bats, or a pocket knife. Dain made a mental note to watch out for that man, who must have been the leader. Which was soon revealed to be true as he pointed at Dain, and the two men beside him rushed forward.

Dain chuckled a little and smirked as the men approached, spreading his feet about a shoulder's length apart and waiting for their attack. The one on the left held a crowbar, holding it high above his head as he planned to smash Dain's skull in, while his companion possessed a pocket knife, running hunched over, probably aiming to stab Dain in the stomach. Do to the short distance between them they came up on Dain rather fast, but not fast enough to really catch Dain off guard. The boy turned to the side as the man on the left swung his crowbar downward, causing the metal weapon to just barely miss him. As the man's crowbar now moved down towards the ground Dain lifted ups his left hand, taking hold of it. His eyes seemed to flash brightly for second, or maybe light had just struck at the right time and made them appear to flash. Either way when his eyes flashed the man holding the crowbar tensed up and his knees buckled, causing him to crumpled to the ground and release his weapon. He laid on the ground, frozen and in pain, as if he had been tased in the back. Seeing his comrade go down caused the other man with the knife to falter slightly, taking his attention off Dain, who pulled the crowbar away from the thug as he fell to the ground. In one smooth motion Dain jerked the crowbar free from the man who fell and rotated his own body, turning to the left and swinging the crowbar around with him. Before the man with the knife had time to react Dain had finished his rotation and had brought the crowbar around, sending it into the the side of the mans cheek. The man's head snapped to the side and his mouth opened wide, releasing blood and teeth from it as the impact had obviously broken them free. His jaw made a crunching sound and snapped to the side, causing him to look like a snake trying to expand its mouth to eat, his jaw had been broken. He hit the ground, laying over the legs of his still paralyzed friend. Dain chuckled once again and tossed the crowbar up into the air, allowing it to spin once before he looked back at the other three men behind him, who watched in astonishment. The surprise didn't last long, as their feeling of shock was soon replaced my rage. They all acquired the same idea at the same time and charged forward at Dain, readying their weapons. The only man that didn't move was the leader, who simply watched.

Seriously, you are going to do the same thing as your friends did?" He shook his head and brought the crowbar in his hand upward, blocking a baseball bat swinging down at his head. As he did this he bent his left leg and lifted it up quickly, before sending it forward in a kicking motion. The kick caught the man who held the bat dead in the chest, sending him slightly up into the air and a few inches away before he crashed to the ground, groaning. The other two men, continued their attack, one holding a switch blade and moving in on Dain's left, which was unprotected and exposed do to the kick. It seemed like Dain would be unable to dodge, as he would be off balance, and couldn't block as the crowbar was in his other hand. Sadly, for the thug, Dain had an advantage they didn't know about. They boy shot his hand to the left as the mugger closed in, as if he planned to catch the knife. However, as soon his hand hand opened up, something else occurred, something unnatural. A transparent light green square appeared in front of Dain's left hand, causing the man's switchblade to scrape over the side of the square and ultimately shielding Dain. He wasn't out of trouble yet though, as the other man charging at him was close enough to spit on Dain. This man was hunched over, aiming up towards Dain's right side with tire iron, but was still in the process of swinging. Dain had noticed this man coming in close, and already had a way to handle him. The crowbar held in his right hand had still been raised up from his recent block, which allowed Dain to bring it straight down, hitting the man with the tire iron in the back of the head, stopping his attack and sending him face first into the pavement. The man's skull gave slightly from the impact, causing blood to seep out of the back of his head and knocking him out. Dain proceeded to drop the crowbar and allow the green shield in front of his left hand to shatter, dispersing into a cluster of particles which floated up and faded way. After freeing both of his hands Dain turned to the man with the switch blade and shot forward, ducking under another swing and opening the man up for an attack. He pushed off the balls of his feet hard and reached out for the man with his left hand, grabbing him by the face and driving his head back into the brick wall of the apartment complexes behind him. The man let out a pained sound, but Dain did not let go. His grip tightened on the man's face, digging his fingertips into his skin. The man's head seemed to tilt back a little and his pupils went wide, before his eyes rolled back, like he was having some sort of seizure. The man's arms went limp and fell to his side, dropping his knife to the ground. His body shook for a second before relaxing, and Dain finally released him. The thug let out a long exhale, dropping down to his knees before falling onto his stomach unconscious. Dain tilted his head to the side, popping his neck, then reached high as if to stretch. He smiled and turned to the man with the cat shirt, lowering his arms once again. Dain look tired or winded in the least, standing ready.

The man in the cat shirt chuckled and grinned, shooting off like a bullet towards Dain. He made two fists and fire erupted around them, Dain could already feel the heat. The man planted his feet firmly into the ground and threw a powerful fire punch at Dain. Dain simply ducked and sidestepped, letting the man's burning hand to sail over his head before he turned and stepped behind the man. He chuckled and moved his hand towards the back of the mans head, but stopped. He placed his pointer finger on the back of the man's head and raised his thumb, making a finger pistol which was aimed at the man. The man looked back, his eyes widening as he knew this was checkmate. Dain smirked and bent his thumb down, like it was the hammer of a gun slamming down. "Bang." He said before an arc of purple electricity jumped from his finger tip to the man's head. The man in front of him tensed up, his head lurching back and his back arching hard. He convulsed for a bit and let out a noise that sounded like a chuckle, but it was the man repeatedly releasing air as he struggled against the current running through him. Dain lowered his hand, but the man still stood there, going through the process of being electrocuted. Finally he fell to the ground, his skin steaming from the heat of such an attack. Dain saw the steam and sighed a little. "I probably over did that a little..." He then shrugged and stepped over the bodies of the muggers as he moved towards the exist of the alley, kicking one to the side as he tried to raise up.

I don't think the font size is necessary but I don't really see many problems with your character. Good luck!

Demo has some grammatical errors and it would help if you separated the points where someone is speaking from the rest.

Too large! The demo and story would be a little better with some blank spaces.

I suggest to always do things like this on the PC, yes the font is very obnoxious. This is pain on the eyes to read for everyone.

Anyways, seeing how I'm a masochist I still read through this thing.

I've gotta ask, how do you "steal potential energy"? The concept is totally lost on me, sadly.

This looked much different on my phone.

Anyway! I think it's good that you're playing with things like bold, but it negates what it's capable of. It's a good tool to show emphasis, highlight emotions in a monologue or showcase volume without having to fall back on CASPLOCK! Bold has a good esthetic and can do a lot of good in a story.

Basically, don't frame a painting by impaling it to the wall with a hammer. Just use the tools like tools.

Also, if you want your character to be portrayed better by the people you fight, you may want to change the personality section to something that isn't necessarily bullet points.

For example:

Tim: Polite, fascinated by Medieval and Japanese culture, Passionate, Competitive, Delicate but has moments of wrath

Tim is a very genuine person who tends to be consumed by one passion at a time. Be it a show, a game or a girl, it'll be the only thing that crosses his mind for months or even years at a time. If there was a trait that'd make him the most proud it'd be his honor. He looks to the samurai and knights of old as inspiration and would love to be the man who'd protect another. He's a kind person with a good heart, but he can get competitive at times, especially in long standing rivalries, and especially when one of said rivalries turn to his favor. Similarly, his head and words can grow a bit dark if his passions are threatened, but he is a loyal man who will always remain by his friends sides.

Kinda get what I'm saying?

I see you've been around for a bit, but I don't think I've seen ya here yet. Welcome to the lounge!

EDIT: Also, the graphic designer in me is also going to have to implore you to avoid header fonts for copy. Headings are fine, but the main text should be a simple, easy to read font. Same deal with colors. It's good to stand out, but with stories, make it with the stories and let the words simply be read.

Honestly I didn't know I had bold on lol. That was an accident, as I used my phone and had some issues clicking what I needed.

Thanks for the tips though, I'll make sure to implement them :D

Just out of curiosity, if Dain were to latch onto a source of nearly limitless energy what would happen?

That's not what Potential Energy is. Potential Energy is the energy which an object possesses due to its position (relative to others). It has nothing to do with somebody's stamina, it deals with restorative forces or forces of gravity.
If you remove someone's potential energy, you're essentially removing the way for something to restore itself back to its usual state.

Let's say Dain touches a spring, sapping its potential energy. If the spring is in its natural state, nothing really happens... until you stretch it. Instead of going back to normal, it just stops where it is and never turns back until it gains its potential energy back. Not only that, but the object will essentially have no gravity, which means it starts floating about. And if we're really talking about sapping all potential energy (which is truly impossible, as if you set something's potential energy to 0 it appears to have it in another referential) then the object breaks apart, as the molecular and even atomic bonds will be broken due to the potential energy being lost in them.

tl;dr - If you truly mean "steal potential energy", then your character disintegrates everything he can get his hands on. That's pretty overpowered.
Of course, you mean "sapping someone's stamina", which is different. Just don't say potential energy and stamina are one and the same.

That all said, the idea of a kinetic vampire (let's face it, this is essentially what it is) is pretty cool. I've got a question, though - what would happen if he touches a non-living portion (ergo, stamina-less) of a living being? Would stamina still be sapped, or would it be like a shield?

For your first time making a character, this is excellent. However, I do have my old-man gripes.

The personality section is... not that descriptive. I personally prefer scenarios being handed out (like saying he would do X before doing Y) so that we can get a better idea of him. Right now, it's extremely open as to what he's actually like given that you have lots of non-committal descriptions ("slightly prideful, a little power hungry... somewhat lazy").

Also, are we talking potential energy in the scientific sense or is it something else? Actually I just read some comments, say "stamina" instead. Potential energy is something else entirely :P

That's not what Potential Energy is. Potential Energy is the energy which an object possesses due to its position (relative to others). It has nothing to do with somebody's stamina, it deals with restorative forces or forces of gravity.

Lol thanks, I'll edit it when I can.

And your question will be answered once I fix the power.
