Day 15:

Things have appeared to quiet down again. The entire day was spent chopping down trees to build an outer wall of defense, but there was a lot of wood needed to block off the entrance into their corner of mountain. Error promised that he'd work on developing stonecutting soon, but there was so many other things that needed to be researched as well.

Azure is now totally healthy. Zero is actually more angry from the encounter than he is. Maybe he knows something that she doesn't....
(Nothing worth putting a picture up for)

Dakota is staring at Azure's sculpture, smiling. Maybe he knows the message Azure is telling.

Image

Dakota hasn't given up. He and Max are getting along great. Maybe one day she'll see what she's missing out on :o

Image

Pictured here: ZERO SITTING ON A WOODEN CHAIR INSTEAD OF THE COMFY LEATHER ARMCHAIR THAT WAS HARD TO MAKE
Truly she must be a monster.
Image

As the next day rolls by, Dakota is very happy with the new outer walls. If only they could be made of stone instead of wood....

Image

This wall means going through a stone entry point--an idea supplied by Azure, and Dakota guessed it made sense.

There seemed to be no further incidents between Azure and Zero. They even seemed to get along some times. But if you looked close enough you could see the steely resolution in the man's eyes.

Image

"EURIKA!"

Error's shout was loud enough to be heard through the whole encampment. He ran to gather Aquila and Dakota, showing them a ramshackle metal smelter that would allow them to get more of the incredibly valuable steel they needed.

Now... there was still so much left for him to figure out.

Finally... finally, Azure had a proper stove to cook with. He now prepares Fine Meals rather than Simple ones, and if he wanted to he could make Lavish Meals, but that would take a lot of food to do.

Image

With a need to get more steel, Dakota decides that they should make a small expedition to salvage a fallen spacecraft nearby.
He's worried though... if an attack happens while they're out, they will have no defenses around to help them.

Goddammit, Betty/Zero, I knew this would happen when you stepped into my goddamn kitchen. If you suddenly become lesbians with Max as well, then Arch owes me $20.

Awright, we got new tech! Maybe we should get on the defenses now that we finally have smelting done. :D

Separate post because a decision needs to be made here. This isn't time-sensitive at all though:

Image

The mission to get more steel seems to be going totally fine. But as Aquila was making his way back, his danger sensors began blaring in his helmet as he passed by this wall.

There was something very dangerous in here.

"Better to let sleeping dragons lie." Aquila thought, continuing his journey. There could possibly be advanced technology in this tomb, but the danger surely wasn't worth it.
Nonetheless, he brought his discovery up to the others. It was at least worth hearing their opinions on whether or not they should crack open this dangerous chest.

Another new technology has been discovered!

Image

This would let the party build their walls out of stone, allowing their walls to be fireproof. But funnily enough, it was Zero who figured this out.

"I am an inventor, after all." Zero grinned tauntingly at Error as she presented her findings. "How long did it take you to make a smelter? Stone walls just took me a day or two."

"That's because stone walls are child's play." Zero bristled. "I'm going to try and develop defenses next. Maybe you'll dedicate yourself to something actually useful and help me."

Image

Azure's crops have yielded another harvest :)

Next time, he's planting corn. Just to spice things up a bit.

It seems that Zero and Dakota aren't getting along very well. Every once in a while during casual conversation, one or the other will interject with a biting remark of some kind or another.

Lately, Dakota tried his hand at sculpting something despite his art being shit, and he made a statue so bad that it was actively unpleasant to look at.

He put it in Zero's room.

Well, I say we wait when we can defend ourselves in case the chest holds something we need to fight against.

That's just me being safe.

I say we hold off on opening up the tomb. No risk, no reward, sure, but we need to get a bit tougher, maybe get some more survivors. A dead crew means game over.

We've already been struggling with heat. It's the middle of summer and temperatures are reaching 100 F on the daily.

On top of that, a heat wave has struck.

It's fortunate we've been developing so much steel. I've had to set up a whole load of air conditioners, but this is hard because coolers produce heat on their opposite ends, making it hard to cool rooms that have nowhere for the hot air to go.

I'll try and figure it out...

Update: Its hitting 50 degrees celsius outside. Geeze.

I suggest probably a central room where all the airconditions will face outward from. That room could also turn into some weird sauna. I dunno. xD

I can't do something like that without heating up rooms that are used a lot... I dont have enough steel to make enough coolers and people are getting minor heatstroke.

I managed to get a cooler into one of the major rooms, and I'm hoping to just endure until the summer ends.

If all this wasn't enough, I've been presented with this:

Image

Obviously, I'm going to have to save this guy. But I already have enough problems dammit

IF THAT WASN'T ENOUGH:

Image

Azure and Zero were out collecting some much needed steel/components when the raiders arrived. They're hot on their tails.

Image

By sheer luck honestly, Azure managed to escape with just a cut to his torso. The raiders are now bashing down the door and entering the newest defense of the facility. Aquila is standing ready and waiting with revenge in his eyes. Dakota and Max are ready to provide backup.

Unfortunately, the pirates weren't stupid. They broke down the wall to the side and began chasing ferociously after Max and Dakota.

As they rounded the corner, Aquila trained his weapon and unloaded it into them as the two brawlers kited their way around the building. The first volley tore one pirate to figurative shreds, and the second quickly turned tail and started running away. He luckily avoided Aquila's trailing fire as he fled and disappeared back beyond their walls.

Image

Now, who wants to be Zero's dad/Error's ex-father in law? ;)

Image

Poor Fugly... no one likes him because of how ugly he is :p

I'm almost tempted to say "Fuck yo dad, Zero." We're not totally prepared for pirates.

Well, damn.

I guess defenses are gonna need to be beefed up quick alongside our cooling systems T_T Balancing issues.

Maybe our martial artists and Aquila can teach some self defense?

Max is decently (?) competent in martial arts, but she would gladly teach how to beat up some people. Also for the pirates, let's give them the fat juicy D. We savin that father, boys.

How's about we use that new smelting tech to make some goddamn bladed weapons? People who cook know how to handle knives after all.

Zero's Father:

-Incapable of being Intellectual
-Incapable of dumb labor

Already this is funny as shit, but then there's the whole "Staggeringly Ugly" thing. I vote we name him after mike9172.

Why does my dad have a conflict with pirates in a zombie-filled world?
