So basically, I wanted to make a place where people can get anything they need but fights can break out in a large number of environments and it has a hint of corruption for writers who have secret organizations they use. If you want to have a store here, you can so long as it appears to be legal.
The Megalex mall is an independently run shopping mall that occupies several city blocks near the heart of the city though it’s most common entrance is near exit 12 of the Eastway Blueview expressway. The exact owner’s identity is a mystery considering it would have taken centuries to raise the money necessary to create such a place. However it is run and maintained by a small force hired by the unknown individual as well as numerous shopkeepers given space in the area.
This behemoth of a mall is one of the largest if not the largest malls in the world. The main “skeleton” of the mall consists of a 6x6 grid pattern where each “line” is comprised of large open halls. The outside ring of squares is a single story, the one inside that is three stories, the one inside that is five stories, and the center of the mall is technically five stories but has a series of elevators that go up to a rotating restaurant that is thirty stories in the air. The four inner squares also web inward in hexagonal patterns which are also five stories. Underneath the entire mall is two sublevels of basements. One for parking and one for an incoming subway that stops at the mall. Below that is a network of transportation of incoming inventory also railway based. Suffice to say, all logic dictates that this mall should not exist.
Beyond most of the stores are backdoors to them all connecting to an even more impressive network. The network consists of numerous narrower white hallways and cargo elevators. It seems redundant to most but the main reason is to get large quantities of inventory in fast through the use of elevators that connect to the aforementioned transportation network underneath the basement levels. Aside from that, there are a few small detainment areas for emergencies until law enforcement arrives and several first aid stations located in these.
The interior of mall is bright whenever it is open thanks to skylights that go through the elevated roof of the place as well as numerous lights provide a cheery atmosphere. Most of the walls are white-ish tan and the floor way is made of smooth grey tiles. You will also find numerous homages to the gladiator system including a fountain at many of the larger intersections many of which include statues of the more honored and famed fighters, usually the more heroic ones thanks to their public image, leading some to speculate time travel may have been involved in this places’ funding.
Megaplex mall boasts of all sorts of shops so long as they are legal (on the surface at least). Despite the building’s size most of the shops are crammed in with few major stores as exceptions. However shopping centers are not the only attractions that the place has. Megaplex mall boasts three movie centers, a very large aquarium, six different food courts including one multicultural one, and an indoor minigolf course.
Megaplex mall has it’s downsides however. The mall is an enormous source of incoming due to the sheer size of the place so companies and secret organizations all over the city are unofficially competing for the controlling portion of the place though this is somehow kept in check by the unknown owner. Also due to the nature of many groups looking to have the mall and because of the mall’s structure, some black markets have cropped up during after hours and because of this proper security measures haven’t been put in place for a long time.
Owner/Staff: Unknown/Numerous people working to protect the place.
